I thought I would post some pics of my army and how it is progressing. I have named them the Sanguine Templars, mostly because I loved the BT conversion bits and I love the BA codex, so it gives me the best of both worlds :)

First up HQ;

This is my "foot slogging" Librarian. His pack is magnetized though if I need to run dual libby's in a jumper list

Then I also have this little conversion I did for my "jumper" libby, his pack is also magnatized as well, just havent decided yet how to paint him.

Here are a couple of mortis pattern dreads....the one on the right has scratch built auto cannons, the one on the left is a WIP, I am trying to decide if I want to cheat on this one with the IG barrells, or make my own again?? The right arm is a converted missle launcher arm, had to do a bit of cutting and plasticard work though to make it the right size.

Here is a WIP of some Sanguine Guard, the gold really takes a while to get it it look right....

And some shots of my Vanguards...

Here is one of the Baal preds, completely magnetized so I can run it is a razorback, dakka pred, or baal pred..

And then one of my almost completed razorbacks...I used the assault cannon bit and heavy bolter bit to make the assault cannon.

The paint job on that "storm" shield :devil: is really nice. Any tips on painting something like it?

Not that hard really. I started with a dark blue, I think it was Vallejo Prussian Blue, or something like that, mixed it with black, about a 50/50 mix. That was the dark blue you see, then I took Vallejo Sky Grey and slowly started building up the highlight, and added a touch of Vallejo Foundation white mixed with the lightest blues for the extreme highlights. The paint was fairly thin, I think I added 1-2 drops of a 50/50 future/water mix, per drop of paint.

@ everyone else, thanks for the compliments.

This guy looks bad-ass!! Great conversion :) Nice use of bits.

And the rest are looking a nicely painted army you have got going on there too ;) with a great idea with the stormshield, something I am going to have to have a go at me thinks B)

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry about the lack of response, the holidays and all....

thanks for all the feedback guys. The librarian was a rather simple conversion really, here is the list of parts I used;

BT robed body

DA robed legs

Empire Great sword arm

SM bolt pistol arm, I think from a regular assault marine, it was a "straight" arm

Company champion shoulders

DA robed head from DA upgrade spur

DC jump pack

BT Terminator shield on sword arm.

Eagle crest from a terminator spur

open book from the flagellen spur

skull, key, and closed book from same spur

grieves were made with plasticard

rivets are frfom grantline products

green stuff work for ribbons and band holding terminator shield on sword arm

Still at a loss for painting it, but will most likely follow the same pain theme as I did on my first Librarian.

must say i like it, but it feels very familiar somehow, and i dont mean from reading this thread...almost cypherish...

thanks for the compliment, but what do you mean be "Cypherish"? I don't get the reference.

As far as the LRC, yeah that has been a long project, not sure what I am going to do with it when I am done, I may try and sell it, my play style has really gotten away from using LRC's any more, for the point cost, and with all the melta people can lay down now, they just dont seem worth it.

So everyone else knows what I am talking about here is a picture;

just theres enought hints of cypher in the model.

Oh, it is a ref to a GW mini.....ok, although I have never scene that mini before, like I said though, I used alot of DA parts so that may be the reason for the "feel"

Kinda reminds me of Assassins Creed :) Great pose, great conversion.. :cuss And your Land Raider is probably the most awesome Warhammer 40.000 vehicle I've ever seen can't wait to see it painted ;)

Hey guys thanks for the kind words, more stuff done now!!

My sternguard;

and the bolter;

They were made using bits from the DC pack, the SG pack, Tactical squad and HQ pack. The bolters were made from reagular bolters with the amo packs from storm bolters attached and then the scops on top. The two guys with missile launchers have their arms magnitized so I can swap out the special weapons if needed.

Here is a shot of my Sanguinary Priest, bit of a rush job, I have a tourney this weekend, 1250, and this guy is the Sterngaurd babysitter.

I finally have my full 1250pt army done, I will try and get some pics of it when the sun comes out a bit more today, I am very excited, it is my "first" fully painted army!!!

As always more photo's can be found here;

Great looking Sternguard mate! Good to see someone take advantage of 2 heavy weapons as well, something I don't often see. As for the bolter I'm guessing it's one from the command squad box with a terminator storm bolter magazine and a scope added? Either way it's very snazzy :) My only niggle is the mold line on the ML but that's just me being picky :D
