Combat Squads

Okay, so in C:SM it reads that the only exception to the combat squad rule is when marines are deployed by drop pod. But what about rhino transports? Can I have a tactical squad split into combat squads after disembarking from a rhino, if they started the game in the rhino? I'm not sure if the tactical squad counts as deployed when its riding in the rhino.

I apologize for not currently having access to books to cite from, but the decision whether to split a squad using Combat Squads is done when the unit is deployed. In other words, you may deploy a full Tactical Squad in a Rhino, or deploy half of a Tactical Squad in a Rhino and the other half of the Tactical Squad outside of the transport, or you may deploy two halves of a full Tactical Squad outside of the transport and deploy the Rhino separately. You may not deploy a full Tactical Squad in a Rhino and halve the squad when it disembarks from the Rhino.

and that is why the drop pod is different, because as they emerge from the drop pod, they are being deployed, and thus can split.
