Ulfhedinn
Anyone else think this would make a nice center piece for a Space Wolves battle? I know it's for LotR but if it had a little snow on it... http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Images/Product/DefaultFW/xlarge/wt1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217741-forge-world-center-piece-for-space-wolves/ Share on other sites

Looks great Brother Ulfehedinn, but why does it need snow on it? Do your Wolves never leave Fenris to fight? Ulfhedinn
Looks great Brother Ulfehedinn, but why does it need snow on it? Do your Wolves never leave Fenris to fight? Haha, thats true... I just see icicles looking so good on it... everything is better with some frost: beer, axes, Christmas, etc. Too bad its £200. I already pushed the "wife" limit on my 40K purchases this year. Commissar Volker
It'll also be the wrong scale. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217741-forge-world-center-piece-for-space-wolves/#findComment-2597081 Share on other sites
Ulfhedinn
It'll also be the wrong scale. Both LotR and 40K troops are 25mm bases. Am I missing something...why would it be the wrong scale? MaveriK
haha its not measured by the base my friend. It's all about proportion! Lord of the Rings minis are considerably smaller in size compared to Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40K models. They (LotR) have about 25-30% less bulk then Warhammer minis, half a head shorter, a third body mass less wide. Even their (LotR) weapons will look tiny compared to almost every weapon compared to Warhammer minis. http://fabrice.lemainque.free.fr/images/25_28uruk.jpg I guess the best way to explain it to you is, the next time your at a GW store, compare blisters from a Warhammer mini, and to a LotR. Baragash
It'll also be the wrong scale. Both LotR and 40K troops are 25mm bases. Am I missing something...why would it be the wrong scale? Fantasy and 40k are done to 28mm scale, LotR is done to 25mm scale. Ironwulf
I have that particular piece of Forge World scenery. There is nothing on it that would be "out of scale" when comparing 40k to LotR. I just don't know how many Space Wolves on bases that you would want to put in the courtyard area of it. I guess if you really have to know, I could get the thing out and measure. Baragash- there are some of the LotR figures that were made closer to a 28mm scale. 40k is more of a 30mm scale. I just now measured Gandalf and Strider on my desktop and from their foot to their eyes, it's 30mm. The LotR minis are just sculpted in a less cartoonish style than GW uses for 40k or Warhammer Fantasy. Baragash
Sure, in reality that's probably the case as GW is quite loose with their scale  That is GW's official position/guidelines/loose goal or whatever you want to call it though :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217741-forge-world-center-piece-for-space-wolves/#findComment-2597852 Share on other sites
LPetersson
It'll also be the wrong scale. Wouldn't it be a more accurate scale then, since Space Marines are bigger then humans? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217741-forge-world-center-piece-for-space-wolves/#findComment-2598120 Share on other sites
Ulriks Minion
Lol I could just imagine this SW walks over to a hobbit in the middle of a fight, the marine looks at him hes has no weapon the marine looks around picks up a 'stick' and says defend your self he throws the 'stick' to the hobbit and hes crushed under the 'stick'. lolololollolollol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217741-forge-world-center-piece-for-space-wolves/#findComment-2598871 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
LOTR is a 'realistic' scaling, while 40k and fantasy are 'Heroic' scale- larger weapons, heads, etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217741-forge-world-center-piece-for-space-wolves/#findComment-2598941 Share on other sites
Chapter Master Ignis Domus
If you've ever seen the Elysian models, they're more on the LotR scale than the 40k scale, so they look like hobbits/dwarves compared to a regular guardsman or Space Wolf.
