Skytear
Fellow hardliners of the Imperium of Man, Merry Christmas. I have an army-list dilemma to face: Next year will see the start of a campaign in my hometown. I have been debating heavily, what to bring to the campaign, as it will most likely last a year IRL and I don't want to just show up to loose. It's a fluff campaign: My Inq will be a Radical. (YES!) I will be facing: Space Marines (Blood Ravens), Imperial Guard, Dark Eldar and Tyranids and Tau. Mostly 1000-1500 Point-Battles I would be grateful for any type of feedback on this list, be it good or bad. This is the barebone Skeleton list, it's missing a lot of wargear. Is it even viable or I am just looking at auto-loss all the time? I am really torn wether to bring it or not. May the Emperor protect us all. What to do? :o HQShooty Inquisitor (Psycannon) (Psychic Hood), Plasma Cannon and HB, 2 Sages, 2 MysticsTransport: Land Raider EliteShooty Inquisitor (Psycannon), Plasma Cannon and HB, 2 Sages, 2 MysticsTransport: Land RaiderCallidus Assassin1-3 Daemonhosts TroopsIST 5 Man (Melta) + Sergeant (CombiMelta) + Chimera IST 5 Man (Melta) + Sergeant (CombiMelta) + Chimera IST 8 Man (Plasma) Fast Attack:ALLY: Seraphim for some added CC and Tank Busting. Marid
We may very well have a new DH codex soon that could dramatically change your army, so it is a tough time to start a radical force. That said, I would recommend dropping the Elite Inquisitor and LR and inducting 500 points of IG or allied space marines. Also, I would either buff up the Inquisitor Lord to full shooty strength with the plan of setting him up in cover, or I would make him as cheap as possible with the plan of leaving him in the LR for a mystic bubble. The points shaved in the latter case could go for more troops or a Leman Russ or SM HS choice. The armies you're up against are new codexes so you're going to need every advantage you can squeeze out of our ancient tome. Gentlemanloser
I would run an IG army and ally in your Radical Inquisitor. Anything else is probably asking for heart-ache at a tournament. Red Lost Soldier
I'm afraid previous advice is correct, the IG codex can do everything the radical DH choices can do better, cheaper. Veterans and Chimeras are better than similarly equipped IST, decent heavy and FA choices as opposed to none, and you can still ally in most of the amusing DH stuff. You will be stuck with only one ally Elite slot though, so it's daemonhosts, assassin or second gunline squad. I used to run radical DH allied to SM to make it viable. You're not looking at auto-loss, but starting from a disadvantageous position in the majority of games. Even Tau has a shiny new codex next to DH. Do you have a lot of experience using this type of army against IG or SM?
