Zeb's Blood Angels WIP

Just finished up one of the 2 assault squads i'll be using in an upcoming tournament, and thought i'd let everyone have a look. I'd like some feedback on my painting scheme as well as things that you notice that could be improved, perhaps a few tricks that you've discovered yourself.

I'm very much a new painter, been in the hobby for years but played with just primed models (or dunked for 3 colours) ;)

I'm not so concerned about picture qualiy as the size of the pictures: I can't see much. What I can see, though, is a number of models painted simply and crisply--not bad, but nothing noteworthy. Good job, and I hope to see better models (and better pictures) from you in the future! ;)

Black helmets wasnt something i considered, maybe i'll try a few after i get everyone done and the tournament is over!

The pictures are thumbnails, so if you click on them they should be a fair size to see details. I had close ups of the seargent and the meltagunners but they are fairly blurry, i'll have new pics up later tonight (At work atm)

what type of paints are you using? If you are using testors, I advise switching to GW or Vallejo ( Vallejo far superior in my mind. )

I suggest adding a thinner, it is far easier to paint clean lines with slightly watered/thinned down paints. You may need to do 1-2 additional coats of paint but it pays off.

When you put your figures together and prime them, go with the simpler route of none plastic glue...once primed you can pull of arms and get those hard to reach locations with the brush. If you go this route, do not attach the back packs in anyway, untill you are ready to paint.

Out side of that, good work, keep it up. Next try some more highlights and depth of shading.

:D

Thanks Mouth, i've been using Golden: Fluid Acrylics.

I build all my models with superglue so its easy to detach pieces, i will be watering down paints as it did go on pretty thick! I went a little banana sandwich on the ink too, gives them a really dirty look....

and better pictures of the PF & meltas! They are thumbnails so click em to view em

il have to ask again brother, do you thin your paints? your marines look rather, thick in some places.

the baal looks like hes been spray painted and not been touched after that or something :) or do you just paint the armor to be really flat? i always spray paint them black and then do the other colours with a tank brush, never get such a clean look on them!

the liby is like you said still WIP but it looks the cloth and book on him are specialy dirty. did you wash it? and if so dident go over the washed area again with a new layer of paint?

the devastators seem to all have a glossy backpack?

other then that some small advice i can give is to paint the joints of your marines armor. it really makes them look alot better ^_^

im not trying to bash your paintjob btw brother. just trying to give some advice on how they could look abit better.
