Summoners + Truescale Death Watch Marines

Doghouse

Recommended Posts

I'm really loving your latest project Doghouse! The deathwatch space wolf is particularly good :P That land raider is on another scale of awesome altogether.

I always get inspiration when i see your marines. In my mind you will always be the master of true scale ;)

Thanks mate!

While hunting through my bits boxes for more terminator parts I stumbled across this old boy that I made a while back for a planned truescale word bearers force. To be honest he's a bit of a mess right now but I have started cleaning him up and he is accurately scaled to match the scale drawing in the third edition codex so if the contemptor doesn't look right I can use this guy in his place untill I get around to making a proper one.

Nearly finished the last of the first five marines now and will be pushing to get them finished by the end of the day.

Bit more of an update.

For the space wolves fans I've added the axe and am just about to undercoat him with any luck. Originally he was going to be the only DW member in an otherwise Summoners squad and had the Preferred Enemy: Necrons but in hindsight I'm going to give him Counter Attack and make him a true wolf.

Got a bit more done on the dread in between bits and am gradually repairing him.

Doghouse that Dred is.. is.. dang its too cool to describe! How in the name of Zeus's butt hole did you manage to TS that bad boy? That Dred has the potential to be the best dread I have seen on these boards! The DW wolf is look ace, can't wait to see him all painted up & pretty lookin :tu:

Fantastic work on the positioning of the axe, nice to see someone finally putting it in a position that won't tangle between the legs or get the way of movement.

Cheers guys! :)

Dorns padawan: It was a bit of a hotch potch conversion where I cut the dreadnought into quarters and then added spacers. It's still a bit of a mess at the moment but I'm hoping I can clean him up and add him to the force, if not like I say I'll use the contemptor.

Pulse: Yeah, not entirely sure how easy it would be get loose in a fight but it keeps it out of the way so he can still move quite freely without swinging in between his legs and tripping him over. Back in my re-enactment days swords were a real pain if they weren't attached properly and got caught up in your legs, so there's a bit of personal experience creeping in there. ;)

Got a little more done and started to basecoat Harkon blocking out the main colours.

Yeh i can imagine although saying that there is always Mag-locking the axe to the armour. :)

The tomahawk i carry in my kit is attached to my plate carrier on my lower back by a rip away sheath.

Awesome thread. I really like those orange marines. I am a huge fan of your true scale work. These guys are so different from the Doghouse pattern marines. I like them both. Black Templar guy is my favorite so far. How are you going to finish the battle damage on that one guy? Can't wait to see more.

Cheers guys!

Pulse: Yeah there are a number of ways that you could explain it away. I quite like the way that the captain in the new space marine game just slaps the weapons on his back for example.

Mr.Malevolent: At the moment it's Summoners, Imperial Fists, Space Wolves, Salamanders, Blood Ravens, Black Templars, Death Spectres, Dark Angels and a few others. I hope to put together three squads eventually so there will probably plenty of room for lots of other chapters.

Seva: At the moment I'm still applying the washes to lighten the black but have begun adding grey scratches and other areas with metal showing through.

Brother Melice: Thanks mate! :)

As a slight change of pace here's something slightly different. This guy started out as a test model to see how feasible it'd be to make a squad of vanguard but as I only had chaos terminator legs and he's just a test model I decided to go for a word bearer instead. I like the idea that not everyone is as successful as the likes of Abaddon or Typhus so instead am going for a mish mash of armoured parts to show that some of the lesser champions are often forced to scavenge for parts and ammo. When I get around to painting him I'm going do him with parts of his armour in loyalist chapter colours much in the same way as the Space Wolves 13th company have chaos parts.

;) Wow! I just stumbled across this thread, and it is amazing! Though, I may curse you in a little while, as the idea to stop work on my current kill team and start working on a Truescale Deathwatch team is growing stronger.

Dang you...*Walks off to start hacking up Terminators...*

Mag-lock. :)

I saw that Vanguard model and made a small noise that was somewhere inbetween a cat being castrated and an excited child. Very characterful, amazing!

How do I say this with out sounding like a fan boy? I have said it before, I will say it again... your GS skills are incredible!!!! That apothacary is immense!!!! Would love to see some other angles of it?! Really is my fav so far by a country mile. I have followed your tutorial to a T & have sucessfully managed to bang out 6 pairs of legs. The more I see your TS stuff the more things in my bitz box I end up hacking up just to try & complete my first ever Doghouse style TS Astartes :( . Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next post :P

Leardinal: Go for it mate. :)

Pulse: I think what I'm going to do is knock together small five man vanguard team in a similar style armed with lightening claws. I've forgone the usual method of using all of the terminator's legs for this one and the thighs are purely GS this time around. Based on this test model I'm confident I can make some fairly dynamic looking guys tearing the enemy up with their claws.

Dorns padawan: Like I said to Leardinal, go for it mate. They can seem a little intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it they're not too bad to make. Plus it is worth it to see the look on your opponent's face when you plonk them on the table, great for psychological warfare! <_<

That sounds great, why all armed with lightning claws though? Anything specifically pushing you that way or just the effect/look of them?

Looking forward to the dynamic poses!

Terminatorinhell: Not sure I know them mate.

Pulse: Lightning claws are cool! :)

They will probably only be five strong, a small squad of jump packers with lightning claws will be rolling twenty dice on the charge all being power weapon attacks and re-rolling to wound.

Pulse: Yeah they can be seriously nasty.

Bit more of an update. Got a little bit more done on both the apothecary and the Dark Apostle.

Maaate, looking tops, would be great to see Dread XXL finished to your usual high standard!

Exciting to see another convert to the medical servo skull, really works well especially with the Ravenwing helmet (wish I'd thought of that combination!, damn you!)

Inspiring as ever!
