A Crimson Raven Scars blog... or so

Hey folks!

As to the fact that I actually paint three different chapters - Crimson Fists, White Scars, Raven Guard - I decided to consequently add photos of my current WIP projects...

I hope I stick to it and add photos, I have the tendency to finish a project about 2/3 and then never ever touch it again. ^^

Ok, hier my first pic... this guy is pretty much standard, little conversion.

My White Scars will be more... "old school", i.e. all the weaponry is more ancient than the standard marine box set... hence the old bolters... Plasma Guns and Melta guns will have a yellow barrel, for example.

I am still a little unsure about the white... it's a pain-in-the-ass-colour, but I WANT to do this project, no matter how long or how many layers it takes.

I did it this way: White undercoat, shading recesses with Badab Black, layering Skull White, now I want to add medium shading with Space Wolves Grey

As I said, this guy is not finished yet, I guess he need about 1 or 2 very thinned down layers and touch ups...

What do you think?

Next up is the White Scars Khan leading the army... traditionally on a bike, a huge axe (c-a Relic Blade) and Combimelta... I added a lot of Space Wolves-, Chaos-, Blood Angels parts to this model (as I did with all the WS up to now) to create a more savage, more mongolian look...

any critics and comments welcome... especially tips concerning white colour... I mean, small parts on a model (aquilas, shoulder pads, helmets, etc...) no problem, but the whole armor is a completely different topic O.o

cheers,

Update!

Because of good old constructive criticism in one of the german forums, I decided to re-do the White Scars Khan.

In fact, I want a more savage, more mongolian look, because many viewers thought it were a Space Wolve and then identified it as a Scar only because of the shoulder pad.

After some advices from forum buddies and a little research, I decided to change a couple of things:

- new helmet, more traditional mongolian headgear

- new weapon, a slender, tulwar like blade (found one of the DE Blades in my Bitzbox)

- new backpack, featuring pelt and a yet undecided form of (relatively short) coat

For the time being I had to remove the trophy rack, maybe I add it again if the coat isn't in the way

ok, so I started working on the helmet first and wanted a corvus armour helmet, because I love them and the result looked better than the standard helmet, which I converted the same way...

I am still undecided about the top. I have to choose between the top knot of a CSM helmet or a sort of pike, any advices?

Then I replaced the axe with a slender curved blade and started converting a backpack out of the Chaos Terminator Lord coat, yet I do have to greenstuff the coat...

I though of either a normal coat or a series of leather straps hanging down from the back, looking LIKE a coat... what do you suggest?

The problem is that GS IMHO is not hard enough to make thin straps solid enough... I need to find an alternative or settle for the normal coat...

By now I also have finished two tactical marines, hope you like 'em!
