Wooaaahhhh those are some nice IF.

Beautiful yellow! Care to share that recipe??

Forgefather

thank you very much and of course.

these modles were done like this;

chaos black under coat

L.darksun bascoat (two/three think layers)

heavy ogryn flesh wash

3 blended thin layers of L.darksun

then 2:1 mix of L.darksun and bleached bone (thinly blended on)

then 1:1 mix of the same colours

2:1 mix of water and ogryn flesh

then a 2:1 mix of bleached bone and L.darksun

3:1 mix of water and ogryn flesh

then extreme highlight the armour edges with bleached bone.

these two models were some of my first IFs

theres a model on this forum of teh latest IF i've done.

I don't know exactly where you live, but when I do.. I'm stealing them.

Awesome stuff fella, I'm a sucker for a big sword - even if that sounds odd!

thank you very much, and how about me and you team up and play agaisnt hordes of xenos, then you can move some of my models but thats it lol

@ Marshall Riese: thank you very much, the blood drops on some of my IFs have a little story in my head, and teh story is, i fell that the blood angels and IFS honour each other beacuse both chapters/legions stood shoulder to shoulder and defended terra/golden palace.

Nice and dark metallics. How did you do the gold and the DW shoulder guard?

Personally, I like bright yellow better than the rather beige colour you've used, but times have changed after all. Bright colours and red boltguns aren't up to date any more ^^

Would you mind taking some pictures with a rather neutral background and maybe posting them on CMON?

More like Lapland.... Coooold!! We're talking like -40!!

Yes I just looked very nice indeed, I really want to try out that yellow on my Dark Eldar now!! I'm thinking black may work well as a secondary colour.... Hmmmmm decisions decisions

Forgefather

Persoanlly if yoy want to darken a yellow, use a very dark yellow based brown and add a little bit of black each time to test it, as too me, when you add black to yellow you get a very un natural looking olive green.

But of course it's personal prefence always.

Hope this helps too

Cheers for the personal message twas muchly helpful ^^ I think I'll try the original scheme then in the crevicises of the armour I'll use a mix of badab black and devlan mud or something to add some more definition :)

As I believe that's what makes the DA models look good.

Also you said a heavy wash of OF... how heavy are we talking here?

Ah now I see lol no worries

gold:

basecoat scorched brown

then

1:1 mix of scorched brown and brazen brass

then

pure brazen brass

wash with D.mud (1:1 mixed with water)

re layer brazen brass leaving the recess

2:1 mix Of brazen brass & shinning gold

gryphonne sepia wash

then dry brush shinning gold (multiple times to achieve flat even finish)

then make a 1:1 mix of shinning gold and burnished gold and dry brush this the same way, continue this with pure burnished gold

then finally make a mix of 5:1 burnished gold and chainmail

and sparingly dry brush this mix on.

Now the 'silver metalic'

1:1 mix of chaos black and boltgun metal

2:1 mix wash of water and badab black

re layer on pure boltgun metal in 2/3 thin coats

same consistancy wash

Then 1:1 micx of boltgun metal and chainmail

layer on pure chainmail leaving previous mix showing, then re apply the sane was mix.

Hope this helps you.

At least two 'wash coats' with a little water added so it isn't a thick sludge.

Thanks for posting your recipe, Dorns_fist - now I can steal it and claim it as my own ^^

I've recently discovered something very interesting (actually, a friend told me it might work and I tried it out). Instead of Gryphonne Sepia, you could try Leviathan Purple (you know, the other wash. I keep forgetting their names...). It sounds awful, but looks really great.

Yoink = totally stolen. THIS is what I need to do for my "counts-as" projects. I'm determined not to use metal minis if I can, but I've been stuck on the SCs because they are "special" so I want to make the models "special" while still able to use them them as *normal* characters if needed.

/takes breath

SO, this is very good inspiration, not that others have not done the same, but I think the first Sicarius here is what I've been wanting to do, but not had the imagination (yet) to pull it off.

Thus ... yoink :D
