ValourousHeart
I am here today to ask the gaming community for help in determining a way to expand my current color scheme. Basically I would like to have my different 40k forces look like they belong together, but subtly stand apart. My two forces that I am trying to bring together are my Witch Hunters and Ravenwing. The Witch Hunters portion has a few squads of Arbites which I am representing with Space Marine Scouts. The Scouts will hopefully be a gateway unit to round out my pure Ravenwing list in to a more diverse Space Marine Army. As such I would like to create a color scheme for the Arbites and Ravenwing that will help them look like they kind of go together with the Witch Hunters, but with some small or large difference that distinguishes them. My attempts at painting black have been disappointing and the models end up looking to me as though I just didn’t paint them at all. Also an army of black models just…. depresses me… I am not sure how better to describe it. So mostly black for the Ravenwing is out for the moment. However the color scheme I used for my sisters is… paint by numbers… (IE armor is this color, robes are that color, weapons a third color)… which works well enough for sisters as every model has armor, robes and weapons. And it works well for the Scouts as they are pretty much the same (armor, cloth and weapons). But it doesn’t work that well for the majority of my Ravenwing models as they are mostly armor and weapons with no cloth except for the sergeant. Also there is my uncertainty on a paint scheme for the tanks for either the Sisters or the Arbites. And as already stated the entire Ravenwing paint scheme is up in the air. So my sisters have this scheme. Bleached Bone Armor, Blood Red Robes, and Bronze Weapons w/ Silver highlights My Ecclesiarchy units No Bleached Bone, more use of Brown Leather. Inquisition units Replaced Blood Red with Necron/Enchanted Blue. So here is what I am thinking for my Arbites. Any recommendations for what to do for PA marines on bikes and tanks for both the marines and the sisters would be greatly appreciated? Isiah
You've used cream and red, and cream and blue (both look quite effective) and you don't like black. So my suggestion is cream and dark purple (purple as you know being a mix of blue and red). Maybe in a quartered design. Or, follow the example of your sisters and have cream marines with purple cloaks, tabbards or robes. Full Metal Racket
This might help you with colour choices, black has to be highlighted with grey to give it definition, try it. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj308/6blackravens/Art/RelationshipsofColours.png Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/218331-help-expanding-a-color-scheme/#findComment-2606516 Share on other sites
