Sandalphon
Howdy folks, In an effort to clear my painting table i figured i'd hit up the old SM drop pod and paint it up in the Angels of the Lion's 1st company (Lion Guard) scheme. The AotL are a DIY DA successor created years back in the DA forums here. History aside - here it is! Detail shot below, but since i'd assembled most of it before painting (what a mistake that was!) it was pretty hard to get much detail in there like cpu screens etc.. The first company look something like this (hence the black and gold): Comments and criticism always welcome, i havent been painting (that) much and am always looking to improve :)
Mr. Nipples
I like the color choice, and overall the painting is very nice. However I'd say work on making the edge highlights more consistent and straight. Keep up the good work.
Sandalphon
Cheers for the comments Mr Nipples, for some reason those doors were really giving me grief when it came to finding the edges with the shadow grey.. didnt help that it kept clotting too :S the more i look at it the more i want to repaint them now! Solid Zaku
The middle inset of the winglets seems...streaky. I'd recommend you start off with a Foundation paint before you start applying the brighter gold in the future. Good streaks, though.
Mr. Nipples
Best advice I can offer for edge shading is water that paint down, almost to the consistency of watercolor paint and it works well.
Ecritter
I think it looks awesome, and the streaks to me make it look used as it should be. Again, awesome work.
