Justicar Shodan
Hello everybody, i have been working on my DIY chapter for over a year now with some gaps in my motivation but up to now i got a considerable force built and painted. So now its time to come to the fluff part. Or at least to to point of giving the chapter a name  So to give you an impression of what i'm talking about here are two pics of my marines, a tactical squad and the company captain with his command squad. http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/459/dsc0066km.jpghttp://img262.imageshack.us/img262/5901/dsc0072g.jpg So as you can see they have neither a chapter icon nor some special ornaments on their armour. Yesterday i posted the pics in the diy gallery and someone recommended the name "Grey Eagles". Frankly i aimed for something more .... heroic  and didnt had something like eagle in mind when i thought about the chapter name. But today i stumbled over a thread where someone posted some pics of his sanguine guard and until now i have never realized how great these models look, especially the jumppacks. :thanks: So here is the "masterplan": The chapter gets the name "Striking Eagles" using a stylised eagle striking from the sky( see:Eagle). Most of the time i play death from above so it would fit anyway ;) Then i buy 2 boxes of the sanguine guard and built my vanguard squad from it, removing all blood droplets ( it is still supposed to be a vanilla marines chapter). I own enough weapon bits to equip them with a somewhat effective weapon loadout. Some parts will be replaced by normal SM bits so i can use the ornamented parts on my normal marines and thereby give the whole army a coherent look. My captain needs a more impressive relic blade anyway ;) What do you think of it? And do you think there are enough bits in the 2 boxes or would you advise me to buy a death company box as well? Octavulg
Sounds workable. Striking Eagles is a tad awkward, but not unworkable. I'd recommend drawing on the symbol for the Death Strike Chapter for your own. Ace Debonair
Striking Eagles, eh? I wasn't sure about that as a name at first, but the more you say it, the better it sounds. :P That colour scheme is pretty darn good. I think that's the first time I've actually been genuinely impressed by grey marines! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/218519-decision-on-chapter-name-and-style/#findComment-2606258 Share on other sites
Aegnor
As a fan of the old Microprose computer game "F-15 Strike Eagle", I like it! ;) That colour scheme is pretty darn good! +1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/218519-decision-on-chapter-name-and-style/#findComment-2606262 Share on other sites
lord draceus
like the scheme, but...striking eagles just doesn`t sound right to me Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/218519-decision-on-chapter-name-and-style/#findComment-2610166 Share on other sites
Blacklight
I'm definitely getting the bird of prey vibe from the color scheme. Reminds me a lot of a red tailed hawk or something like that. Possibly Shocking Eagles (shock and awe), Thunder Hawks, Storm Hawks, Storm Eagles... Strike Eagles even. Knock the -ing off and it has a lot more punch, IMO :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/218519-decision-on-chapter-name-and-style/#findComment-2611387 Share on other sites
