After trimming the flash and gates you WILL want to soak all your pieces in cool water mixed with dish soap. Hot water will risk warping your resin. The resin itself will be covered with mold ejection medium and it rejects paint/primer. After soaking for a while you'll want to go over it gently with a toothbrush to make sure you've gotten all the cracks. Again, I stress the word SOAK. Do not just rinse your resin. Let it sit in the soapy water for a few hours. You'll see a grainy residue settle on the bottom if you've done it right. If you're using a bowl or cup make sure you wash whatever you're soaking these pieces in well by the way. Resin is toxic when ingested.

As for assembly, pinning and super glue work best in my opinion.

Agreed. As Emperor's Scourge said, when working with resin, a good strong bond is usually achieved with superglue after drilling and pinning to reinforce the join. Washing the figure before assembly with a good dish soap is also very helpful. (I personally recommend Dawn diswashing soap, as it has a degreaser agent.)

Make sure after wash the model & after building it, that you varnish the model before undercaoting. This help key in any of the paint/undercaot that will go onto the FW model & so it will not flake off. Then of course varnish again once your model is fully painted.

I built a SW FW dread just as it was released. I had no clue on how to work with resin. So I didn't wash it, I didn't pin it and I only used normal super glue to build it together (although some pieces were glued after priming) and I never had any problems with stuff breaking off or chipping. I must have been just lucky. :P

Oh, and I magnetized the banner, works like a charm and it will certainly never break off.

Interesting last tip there IP, have not heard that one before.

FW staff tend to tell you when your talking to them & add onto that, rememeber I done a NQ to HND model making course, just stuff I was taught, as said just help key in any paints & undercoat. As why the GW spray gun pretty much second nature to me & can easily sort any problem it may have right away.

Does this also help with metal models? This is the biggest problem I have with them, that they chip so easily.
