The 2011 Librarium Painting Challenge

It's the start of a new year and we all know that means it's time for the annual Librarium Painting Challenge (also known as the 'LPC'). Functioning as a chance for board members to make a New Year's Resolution to get some models painted by the end of March, the Librarium Painting Challenge offers both positive and negative motivation. The positive motivation is the promise of a newly minted Vow Complete signature, not to mention the glory and camaraderie of participating, while the negative motivation is the infamous Vow Failed signature and the requirement that you do an article for the Librarium (which is quite simple, really not much of a punishment;) ). So for anyone who received some models (board appropriate ones of course...) this Christmas and is yet to make a serious start on them, this is the perfect challenge for you :)

For full rules and information on how to enter, please click here. This is also the thread to pledge your vows. Please don't post your vows here, they won't count!

Once again, the Librarium Painting Challenge is also hosting a challenge within a challenge. This is the LPC Subforum Challenge. In this, every subforum is pitted against one another in competition to see who can get the most completed vows. The winning subforum receives the title of LPC Champions (and bragging rights of course ), not to mention a subforum-specific Vow Completed signature. So get on board now and support your subforum! Remember that only completed vows count.. Will anyone be able to unseat the reigning champions, the supremely talented Blood Angels or will the fanged pretty boys (:P) have another year to lord it over the other subforums? You can make a difference!

If you want to view the fun, mayhem and camaraderie invested in the Librarium Painting Challenge, check out the previous year's Challenge. Don't miss out on this once in a year chance! So what are you waiting for? Sign your board name here, grab those dusty paints, open those Christmas boxes of space marines and join in!

When I read what the other vows are it feels kinda cheap to put in a vow when the only thing I have lying around is a DC box. Don't think I'll be able to buy something new until april either. When I come to think about it I also have a drop pod somewhere. What do you guys say, is a Honour guard and a drop pod enough to enter in a vow?

JamesI is it possible to enter in two separate sub-forums? For example, I'd like to hopefully get my Sanguinary Guard done by march, but I'll also have a nice vintage Death Guard Kill Team ready for February...

I asked on the main forum but got no response. - Thanks!

I would love to pledge, however I haven't yet had an article added to the Librarium. I've tried to submit a piece of DA fiction as until the BA Codex release I was a staunch DA player (still am but swayed by having both Angels of Death) however its not been deemed worthy enough yet and now at a loss what to submit to enable me to get pledging for the BA this year.

:D

Not sure if i'm posting this in the right place, but i've got two questions:-

1) If you entered last years vow but had to pull out before the deadline, does that mean you've failed and owe the librarium an article?

2) If you enter a vow and finish it, can you enter another Vow? (I've got way too many Blood Angels units to paint and this would be a really good motivation thing for me.

Sigismund has answered another poster asking the same question. Your work has to count for 1 forum. No reason you can't vow both units, but you have to decide if your success helps BA or DG.

I recommend PMing any questions to Sigismund Himself

As soon as he has cleared out his PM box so people can actually message him ;) If my inbox is full, just post in the main LPC thread in the General PCA subforum.

1) Yes, unfortunately. If there was personal reasons or anything, I'm more than happy to waive it though :tu:

2) You can extend your vow or make another at any time.

A Librarium article can be quite easy. If you've got the BA codex, we'd love to see some more articles on the heroes of the Blood Angels. A basic template can be seen here. Indeed, Dante's article probably needs updating with the info from the new codex...

Gunzhard: You'll have to choose one subforum for your vow to count towards, as JamesI pointed out.

Well, I made my vow. I feel much better now. But here comes the buckling down part.

When I present my marines( and I will). Can I present more models than I've vowed to do? They will be painted right along side my vow models.

sure. No reason you can't do more as long as you get what you vowed done.

Sadly no vow for me. I went through my stuff and it seems I had already plundered the DC box, so I'm 2 JP's short. And somehow I have also misplaced 2 of my plasmaguns and all of my meltaguns (i'm sure I had atleast 3). Not making footslogging honour guards and I have no need for anything else on foot at the moment.

I'll make sure to save something for next years vow.

Good luck to you guys!

My bad, it wasn't the LPC I entered, it was the CoI IV I entered and had to pull out due to personal problems. Nipping off to sign up to the LPC now ;-)

I made My vow and it feels very inspirational. Vowed to paint 10 ras, 5 Honour guard, 5 DC, a Sanguinary Priest and a captain. Finished my 4 first Marines yesterday. I'm a very slow painter so it's a pretty big undertaking for me to paint 22 minis in 3 months:p But since I'm already about 20% done I'm feeling quite hopefull:D

I like how I vowed to paint my Librarian Dread.

So last night I pull out the paints and work on a new Sanguinary Priest (with Lightning Claw), some devs with missile launchers, a couple members of my Vanguard.

Oh well. Next time I guess I start the Dread.

Been lurking around here for a bit, decided to give this one a go. I have a question that I haven't seen addressed anywhere: where do I put my WIP shots? It seems most people have an ongoing WIP thread, but I have a blog for that and am loathe to duplicate it here. I also see some people start a LPC-specific thread, but that seems the exception rather than the rule. So what's the protocol here?
