The 2011 Librarium Painting Challenge

It's the start of a new year and we all know that means it's time for the annual Librarium Painting Challenge (also known as the 'LPC'). Functioning as a chance for board members to make a New Year's Resolution to get some models painted by the end of March, the Librarium Painting Challenge offers both positive and negative motivation. The positive motivation is the promise of a newly minted Vow Complete signature, not to mention the glory and camaraderie of participating, while the negative motivation is the infamous Vow Failed signature and the requirement that you do an article for the Librarium (which is quite simple, really not much of a punishment;) ). So for anyone who received some models (board appropriate ones of course...) this Christmas and is yet to make a serious start on them, this is the perfect challenge for you :RTBBB:

For full rules and information on how to enter, please click here. This is also the thread to pledge your vows. Please don't post your vows here, they won't count!

Once again, the Librarium Painting Challenge is also hosting a challenge within a challenge. This is the LPC Subforum Challenge. In this, every subforum is pitted against one another in competition to see who can get the most completed vows. The winning subforum receives the title of LPC Champions (and bragging rights of course ), not to mention a subforum-specific Vow Completed signature. So get on board now and support your subforum! Remember that only completed vows count.. Will anyone be able to unseat the reigning champions, the supremely talented Blood Angels or will the fanged pretty boys (:P) have another year to lord it over the other subforums? You can make a difference!

If you want to view the fun, mayhem and camaraderie invested in the Librarium Painting Challenge, check out the previous year's Challenge. Don't miss out on this once in a year chance! So what are you waiting for? Sign your board name here, grab those dusty paints, open those Christmas boxes of space marines and join in!

I have always wanted to play White Scars, and so opted to build a 1000 pt contingent as part of a team participating in the Adepticon Team Tournament this April. And thus my vow was born!

As of this writing, I haven't even assembled a single model. Lots of work to do!

The list of the valiant and dutiful servants of the Emperor's most holy Inquisition that have taken up the challenge is as follows:

number6

TJwyrm

Lord Balbanes

Justicar Cirekon

Fredegar Kadere

This places the Ordos Inquisition in last place. This is five vows behind the second last, those suspicious Dark Angel types (and I'm not talking about the whole wearing dresses thing either...). All it takes to enter is one model guys!

Also, a small number of participation prizes have been added as announced here.

These will be given out in the following way:

  • One card to the person with the fanciest/funniest vow (please just leave your name, the subforum you're vowing for and the amount of models clear or in bold if you go for this)
  • One each to three people with the biggest completed vows
  • One each to eight randomly drawn people who have managed to complete their vows
  • One each to the first three people who get a Librarium article in after failing

So why haven't you entered yet?

If I wasn't elbow deep in Greenskin armour with a 'Nid Swarm on the horizon I'm sure I could muster something up. Maybe next year I'll be working on something remotely board appropriate.

The battlewagon squadron's completion is currently targetted for my birthday and I'm well on track. 'Nid list is ~80 models, so I should be able to grind that out by the fall. Yeah, early next year I'll have a board suitable project.

WAAAAAGH!

I can't let the Inquisition subforum lag so far behind other armies as far as particapation goes- I have submitted my LPC vow as well, and have a thread already started in the WIP section.

I am hoping to add some WIP shots of the 5x PAGK that I am currently working on, once I get my computer back (next week I hope).

I stole Inquisitor NicolePyykkonen's Idea to post WIP in my BnC blog, also taking advantage of the album. my first WIP is here.

so now comes the hard part for me, applying paint to models. I verymuch prefer building or playing to painting, but that's why I entered this challenge.

It was actually JamesI that I shamelessly stole it from, but it does seem to work well :P

The models definitely look much better painted, I may have to try and keep going and see if I can get the majority of the Daemon Hunter figs I have painted up before April :P

For me, it's trying to juggle my ACTUAL job, painting the remainder of my friend's Nurgle terminator squad, and trying to pick out the details on this thing.

Those details...they're almost overwhelming. I'm only on the first third of the aircraft (nose/cockpit/offload ramp) and I spent nearly 4 hours just on the icon plate, trying to get the metallics and washes right.

This thing is going to kill me by the time I get back to the engines.

I threw my vow in just now. The three stormravens, which I really really hope get here on monday now, and the three land raiders that have been sitting in their boxes waiting for me to get around to them for months now. May the Emperor have mercy on my soul.

Definatly helped to drive me to complete those two units. Now on to the Storm Raven and the Land Raider.

Nice work (I was happy with my almost done Librarian Dread, then I saw yours. Wow.) Can't wait to see the raven!

Update 2 on my vow- much too lazy to try to proxy myself to a reliable picture upload site at work (damn you, server admin!) so I'll link to my studio's album instead on Facebook. ^_^
