Casual Heresy
Thank you for proving that the Sanguinor's face can be painted as a face and not just as a mask. On topic, It looks very well done. The purple maybe could have been highlighted up a bit more, but thats just me.
WingsOfTheFalcon
Works well with the Chalice, certainly suits the Soul drinkers. Could do with a touch more work on the purples but a nice idea, well executed. :D
Codicier Lucion
Well, thanks for the advice but the choice with toning down the purple was actually a design choice. I usually use watered down chaos black as opposed to ink when highlighting features on characters and models but trying it with lich purple tended to blot out and obscure most of the details on its armour. Combined with the wings and lack of many other colours besides the few parts of gold it seemed to be largely dark and featureless. Toning it down and thinning it so some of the boltgun metal undercoat could be seen made it look much more interesting. The fluff reason behind this was, well, they're renegades. They probably have higher priorities in terms of resources than getting the right colour paint for their armour or have the time to add on a new layer after each battle. WingsOfTheFalcon
Fair point, are you going to do any more work on the base?
Hyaenidae
I'd say the purple is pretty spot on, brother. In 'Chapter War', their color is described as such a deep purple, it's almost black. The only thing that's nagging at me is the blood drops. If you could convert them into chalices, he'd be absolutely perfect. I'd love to see some more of these guys, keep goin', man! Codicier Lucion
Fair point, are you going to do any more work on the base? I will sooner or later, but I'm currently lacking in flock to do them properly. I'd say the purple is pretty spot on, brother. In 'Chapter War', their color is described as such a deep purple, it's almost black. Ah. It's been a while since I read Chapter War so I usually based my colour scheme on the art covers. I'll make a few edits then. The only thing that's nagging at me is the blood drops. If you could convert them into chalices, he'd be absolutely perfect. I'd love to see some more of these guys, keep goin', man! Well, I considered trying to file down the blood drops on the chalice at least but after making a few attempts on similar objects in my bits box it seemed it was next to impossible to leave it in an odd shape. Better to have the tear drops than ruin the thing. As for the edits to the armour, I might do that later on but until I improve on my abilities with green stuff i'll leave it alone for the time being. Besides, judging by the Lamenters this seems to be the sort of thing most chapter's do after going through the things the Soul Drinkers have. Anyway, as you requested here are a few more of the better done things related to the Soul Drinkers: Atalus Kill Team http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/007/b/b/atalus_squad_members_by_lord_shinra-d36nbls.jpg http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/007/9/b/atalus_squad_by_lord_shinra-d36nbck.jpg Modified Sanguinor http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/007/0/8/sanguinor_ii_by_lord_shinra-d36nc6z.jpg The rare example of a Soul Drinkers Rhino, and an example of just how 'diverse' my in game army is http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/007/6/1/soul_drinkers_rhino_by_lord_shinra-d36nbvh.jpg
