Captain colour?

Recommended Posts

ne of the most famous pieces of BA artwork shows a gold Captain with a bolter and full mask, Dante is gold and so is Tycho.

I'm curious, should all Captains be gold? I have a red tactical captain and painted up a gold Assault captain. can't figure out which scheme is best or even canon.

I second bevulf's opinion. I don't know of any fluff/canon out there to back it up, but in most fo the codexes, when a captain is in gold, it's artificer armour, and since our normal captains can't take artificer, I'd say red armour makes the most sense. However, a red captain with gold Sanguinary Gold wouldn't look too good, so really, do what you want that looks best with your army :)
i think it can change for each of the companys. those few that have gold are artificer armour. yeat nt all artificer armour is gold(mepheson) and the codex shows pics ofcaptains in reds. (the one built out of san guard bits) and then th pics of the likes of the old capain with the black powerfist with yellow flames. so some just incorperates lots of heraldry etc. ive done all 10 for my storm angels and came up with a fre different things to do. if i rember tychos company colour is yellow/gold. so that could be why his armour is that colour. also the iron helms i gave metalic helms to the captain etc. and all jewels on each captain were iin the colour of their company if not the chapter colour. hope that helps.
Although I don't play BA, I really like their golden colour scheme on single models like a captain (on a squad I think it is too much). I do not really understand how that red captain armour is not artificer armour. Nah, looks completely bog standard, dunnit?
