My Stormraven

VAGABOND

Recommended Posts

Alright guys, not posted anything in sometime due to moving house and not having the net. So I decided to fire up some pics of my Thunder Pidgeon, did this conversion a month or 2 ago and isn't quite finished yet. I know the picture quality isn't great and it was taken on my mobile phone and these are the best pictures I have because I don't have access to a camera.

The conversion itself is a kitbash between the Land Speeder and Valkyrie with some other bits and bobs added in to make it stand out. The Sanguinor above the cockpit was an idea by a friend of mine who suggested added him and painting him up as a statue. The detail shots are quite blurry and hard to make out, but every person who has seen it has mentioned it's one of the best conversions they've seen yet. I was also at a LGC recently and loads of people were telling me it was far better than the actual model that GW were releasing in February and I was very proud of that.

It might not be everyones cup of tea but I like the way its turned out I so hope some of you guys like it.

Nice paintjob, obviously a lot effort but no, not my cup of tea in a huge number of ways. My biggest gripe would be the unenclosed cockpit in the front and it basically looks like a Valkyrie with various parts stuck to it, not something original what the other conversions usually try to achieve. Better looking then the soon to be released model? Ah, I don´t think so. Have fun with it anyways and I wouldn´t mind playing it. The most important thing is that you like it yourself, not what others think about it.

I played against it, and I can say it's a nice model ;)... Even with the Sanguinor broken off. Glad to see you fixed it man...

Btw I'm sorry I broke your win streak haha. Cya man

Is that you Rory, not quite sure how I spell your name tbh mate lol

Nah these pics were taken a few months ago, he's still lbroken in the box not had the chance to fix it yet.

Trust me I'll be back with my winning streak sooner or later buddy.

Yeh haha... Aw that's a shame... I see how much better it looks with the statue on ;)

Glad to hear it

I like the conversion and effort put to it. The amount of detail in the painting and the bits choice is also a beautiful sight to see.

I agree it is one of the better conversions out there because of that.

But to be honest, I agree with Saphos that it doesn't look better than the picture we got of the Stormraven that might be released in February. It looks like a Valkyrie and not an Astartes vehicle. Myxx mentioned the lack of a 'boxy' look as a plus, for me it's a minus as that is what defines an Astartest vehicle over other Imperial vehicles.

Still, I am no fan of any Stormraven conversion and this one put a smile on my face. Honestly the best conversion out there to date. Really love the amount of detail and the clear effort put to it! And yes, I'm repeating myself :-P

I really like your paint job. And your kit bashing techniques are great. The resolution is not great, but the model looks completely organic, like it was sculpted that way to begin with. You have my respect there, and if it was an IG unit I would say I love it. It just departs so much from the desciption in the codex I just cannot see it as a SR. I definately do not beleive it is a better SR then the Games Workshop pics we have seen. But I love it as an expression of technique and as an IG model I don't think I have seen anything close to this good. You have serious talent for kitbashing and painting.

I like the conversion actually, making use of just a couple of simple kits.

I have to say I am not a fan of the gold .. across that much of a model - its a bit much for me, but its painted v.well - and the wings on the wings - excellent. I really like the red - personally I'd like to have seen the colours the other way round, but thats just my take on mass of gold, I think others will love it.

The Sanginator is a cool touch a a "hull" figure - but i think he's just a tad bit large.

Over all I think thats a v.fair representation that I'd love to have on the table vs me. Good job man, just makes me wish I could covert (or have the balls to cut up so many models).

Still, loving those wings decal, they are top notch.

I dig the Paint job on the wings However I do not like the Gold But thats a FT thing just too flashy IMO , However I do not like the Conversion since to me it just looks like a Valk with a Landspeeder glued to the front However hood Paint job on the wings.
