Blacklight Posted January 6, 2011 Share Posted January 6, 2011 A friend of mine from my Old Republic guild pointed me to a rather interesting tool called TheBrain. TheBrain Homepage It's basically a thought organizer similar to a web you might have done in English class or something. I just started using it, and it's really quite useful. I started off with the 'center' of my web with the chapter's name, then branched off for each section of the chapter's page, such as Origins and Gene-seed. You can then branch off from those and put down ideas for those sections, and if need be, put more details on those ideas in further branches. Overall, I'm liking it. It's not like typing a sheet in Word, where you start shooting for either paragraphs or do bulleted lists to organize ideas. It's definitely built for 'random' thoughts, which is great for brainstorming ideas for a chapter like I'm doing right now. You can quick-navigate to a particular part of the web, so if one thought gives you an idea for a different section you can jump over, write it in, and jump back with no hassle. On top of that, you can link webpages and images and files straight into the web, so a click will take you right to your inspiration or whatever else you found online or on your computer that's related to that thought. I have one on my iPad that I use to keep track of stuff like my DeathWatch campaign notes.
