Modelling wolf standard

What do you use for a wolf standard? Do you use the backpack banners, and if so how do you make them stay on (mine always come off)? I notice there is a model on the GW website but it looks an old one and would require an actual banner. Also, how is the one in the codex made? Is it from the space marine command squad?

Many thanks in anticipation!

I use the backpack banner, but added some magnets. That way after I use it, I can remove it. Plus it makes it easier to fit in a standard case. Or if i'm not including the standard in my list, I can use the model without the banner attached.

I'm using the back pack banners. But I only kept one with the original top, for the remaining I cut of the top piece and exchanged them with the other bits and pieces that are in the PA and TDA box to come up with a variety of banners, even thought the cloth itself looks the same.

I was going to magnetise them, and probably should have, but in the end I didn't bother. They break of once in a while, but not very often.

I would say either magnetise or pin them.

Hail brothers!

Having a few Grey Hunter packs, their banners vary, to express the codex description. One has the banner of the command sprue, like the beautiful Ragnar banner in the codex, where they charge out of a Land Raider of some sort. Another uses the one of the marauder horsemen shown by brother Schertenleib, while yet another pack has the one of the black orks from fantasy if memory serves right.

Yet other another pack follows him here, their packleader, guy in the font line middle:

...his backpack with the wolf's head and knife thing serves as the banner.

From a bits site I got an old school bare backpack banner pole with a cross beam with the intention of making my own fabric-y banner instead of that cursed plastic one. What I did instead was slap on some wolf skulls and other bits to make a more primitive, tribal banner.

I also bought a marine banner arm from a bits site and made a "proper" rectangular like the ones pictured here. I won't reveal what it is now, because it is too awesome for this thread. Soon the tales of its appearances will spread through the gaming community and mouths will drop in shock and awww (not awe, the kind of 'aww' someone says when they see a cute puppy).

Another option is getting some warhammer fantasy banner top to go on your banner arm pole.

Excellent, thanks for all the tips. I think I've got a black orc and marauder banner, these seem to be good options.

I used toothpicks and greenstuff(well actualy it was procreate i think, some grey type stuff) to make mine. it was my first attempt scultping a banner.
