Paladus
I have a new army in the pipeline which is power armoured but is not a marine or sisters army. I also have a rather complex backstory which I would like to post. I was wondering whether I could post it being as the B&C is often referred to as "the power-armour forum" and the list uses the rules for the marines. Blacklight
From what I know of the lore, Power Armor can only be used by Space Marines and the Sisters of Battle. Space Marines can wear it because of their Black Carapace, which lets them interface with the armor. I don't know if any other factions aside from Space Marines or Chaos Space Marines can use it at all. Sisters of Battle wear a different type, I believe. One of the more lore-oriented members would have to fill you in. Leonaides
so its essentially a diy, using marine rules, models in pa? I dont see why not, but i really hope you've done something good with the backstory... Octavulg
Technically, Eldar armor is power armor, too. While technically only an Admin can really answer your question, telling us what the army is would probably make it easier to give you advice one way or the other. Necris
Any one can wear power armour Inquisitors can wear it (As can be seen by Ordo Malleus) - Hell Inquisitors can wear terminator armour Sisters of Battle wear it (As has been mentioned) Imperial guards can wear it (Lord Solar) Adeptus Mechanicus can wear it Legio Custodes wear it But only Space Marines have the black carapace which allows them to interface with their power armour to a greater degree. All power armour is, is a suit of armour with powered servos so anyone could have power armour it is however extremely rare as each suit is a takes many years to fashion (look at marine armour some of it was kicking around during the heresy) is a highly advanced and expensive piece of kit (Are regular Imperial Guard soldiers life really worth that much...really?) Though I don't think it's a dud idea, I once considered making a guard army in micro servo harnesses akin to the aliens power lifters with more armour and I've seen steampunk esk guard armies using marine rules for their suits of armour. So if you're considering converting up an armoured army that represents power armour that's great if however you're just planning on using marine models for a none marine army then I think you need to think it through as Marine armour is very distinct compared to the other types of armour within the range. Heru
I have a new army in the pipeline which is power armoured but is not a marine or sisters army. I was wondering whether I could post it being as the B&C is often referred to as "the power-armour forum" and the list uses the rules for the marines. Are we talking custom Codex or Count-As existing Codex? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/218793-power-armour/#findComment-2609218 Share on other sites
Ecritter
Yes others can wear power armor. Problem is that I've seen it mentioned several times before that B&C is dedicated more to the Imperium and Chaos forces, Xenos may still use PA ... but should be directed elsewhere. Paladus
Thanks. It is counts as codex and I don't do things by halfs - I will be converting the army in depth. Oh and, hell yes I'm doing something good with the backstory! But I'm not sure you'll see it because I don't know if I can post it... Heru
Well I suppose the biggest factor is which Codex you are using to Count-As. If your talking about men in power armour who aren't Space Marines, and you are Count-As'ing the Adeptus Sororitas then it should be perfectly acceptable. Justin Kase
Well, if you don't wind up posting it hear, then I hope you at least let us know where it will be posted :) Also, to add to the list of power armor wearers - didn't the Spyrers in Necromunda have some sort of power armor? Inquisitor Kravin
Thanks. It is counts as codex and I don't do things by halfs - I will be converting the army in depth. Oh and, hell yes I'm doing something good with the backstory! But I'm not sure you'll see it because I don't know if I can post it... Well we're not sure if you can post it until we see it! I don't want to encourage spamming and I appreciate that you've considered in advance whether it is board appropriate but I think that the only way forward is to post it and then let the community decide. If necessary a mod will lock the thread. If you're going to do xenos fluff and marine rules then I don't think it's really board appropriate for fluff and painting/conversion purposes but you can still discuss army list and tactics in the appropriate sections of the forum since it is a marine army for such purposes. Paladus
It is counts-as-standard marine codex. And they aren't tecnically xenos but enhanced humans, like super gland warriors. Oh and their creators are technically human too... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/218793-power-armour/#findComment-2615028 Share on other sites
Ferrata
The simple rule is: If they are one of the accepted armies in their background, you can discuss their background here. If they use accepted army models, you can post images in PC&A. If they use an accepted army list, you can can discuss their rules and army lists. You can say yes to some and no to others. For example, if I wanted to make Movie Marines using Tyranid Monsterous Creatures, I could talk about the background (as it would be normal stuff), I could show images (as they would be marines) but I couldn't talk about tactics, army lists etc (because it would be Codex: Tyranids). In the same vain, if I made up an Xenos race that used Codex Space Marines, I could talk about tactics etc but not post images or their background :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/218793-power-armour/#findComment-2615113 Share on other sites
A_POINTED_STICK
Tyrannid MC Space Marines are a great idea. Now you've got me thinking...
