MirImage
Hey all I haven't used a veteran squad yet, but I was just wondering if this would be a decent set up for tank busting. (Using Codex DA) 5 Vets xxpts 2 Combi Meltas xxpts 1 Meltagun xxpts 2 with combat shields and power weapons xx+xx Total pts 170. plus add a Rhino possibly attach HQ Reasoning behind the combat shields and power weapons is to have a CC buffer if I get attacked after getting rid of a tank. Or making the group useful if there aren't any tanks left. Is this group too costly? Would it be effective? How much of a point game would you use this. I hope this isn't too broad of a question. Stromal
I have had good success with 5man squad with 4combi-meltas and 1 meltagun in a droppod. Drop it on a IG artillery position , fire all meltas on the biggest target, usually one of the vets survive, so you get to shoot your meltagun twice. I thought you could only take up to 3 Combi Meltas and 1 regular. Im at work and don't have dex with me right now. Drop the combat shields, they are absolutely useless. No save is better than a 6++ if it means 10 points. I like the idea of this, but add 5 guys and add a thunderhammer. You can either combat squad into a CC squad and an AT squad or stick together or whatever. I also highly doubt 2 combi meltas and a melta gun will get rid of all enemy tanks. Viray
Actually, the Dark Angel Storm Shields provide a 5++ and they are cheapter than 10 pts apiece, though I hesitate to give the exact pts value. Brother Landrain
The problem with Dark Angel Vets, and I love them. Is that they have a Close Combat profile, but only really equip with Ranged Weapons Efficiently. They are the old 5 Man tactical - Las/plas combo With CC weapons available at a cost. I am sure they wouldn't either. I have other AT support. Thanks for everyones' suggestions! No, storm shields are a 4++ in close combat. Combat shields are a 5++ in close combat. 5 points is not worth it.
