Brom MKIV
I have been working hard on my deathwing army and everything was turning out satisfactory, until recently. I was using layering to work up to a nice white-ish color. Then I stupidly kept painting until all the highlights are now pretty much one flat off white color! ;) Is there any way to reverse the damage or must I start over? Was considering washing the model heavily with badab black or devlan mud then the trying to layer back up again. How about painting the base color back on over top the white? Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/218833-help-is-it-possible-to-reverse-over-painting/ Share on other sites
ValourousHeart
No need to start over... a light wash or ink should bring back the detail. I say light cause a heavy wash will cause almost as much work as starting over. Just do it lightly and maybe repeat if enough detail doesn't show up. This will dull the highest highlights but you just go back and hit those again. I would use devlin mud or ogryn flesh for this and not badab black. Between mud or flesh it would be based on if I wanted a dark brown or red brown shadow. I don't feel that black shadows white bones very realistically. Ironwulf
There is a part of me that says, "let's see what you have already," and there is another part of me that says, "strip it and start over!" Without seeing how much paint you have caked on, the second voice seems to take precedence... WingsOfTheFalcon
Without picture it is hard to say, I'd try hitting it with a light wash of either Devlan Mud or Gyrphonne Sepia then see how it looks. Solid Zaku
Why not try the best of both worlds? Strip the model and try again, but this time use the knowledge you gained with your last mistake to do it right the 2nd time much faster. Brom MKIV
Thanks for the help. I actually ended up washing the models and building back up again and everything worked out. Cheers.
