Flamestorm Baals good, bad, indifferent?

Personally I like them and like them a whole lot. In a 2000 pt game I field 2 and 1 at 1500 pts. Charging around 12" a turn in an AV 13 ride and frying Marines scares the poop outta just about every one. I don't see a lot of representation in the majority of builds, generally the dakka Baals get a lot of press. These guys have broke open a few games for me in Tournaments so I think that they are valid. Anyone else have an opinion on them?

I think it's because the Assault Cannon Baal is a much more versatile option. It means that at any point in the game, if it can move or fire, it's probably going to hurt something. The Flame Baal is different, Needing to be close to the models it wants to kill, which can often leave it unsupported...

Don't get me wrong, it has it's place in peaples lists and it can be game winning, just the Assault Cannon Baal is easier to use at various points in the game ;)

Unfortunately i find that the flamestorm baals ever do well, if an army is going to be weak to them, they get targeted very quickly. The issue arises that in fifth so many people use transports now that they are fast becoming useless except as a 3rd/4th turn egg for outlanking that has the potential to kill any scoring troops.

I personally, love them, the cannon is amazing, but in my meta they just don't fit the bill ;)

I love, and hate them. They usually do great damage turn 1 and 2, then fizzle and run around trying to reach other squads the other turn. Nothing says "Jesus Christ Run!" Like a scouting Baal if you have first turn move. Scout 18" and pop smoke. Then in your turn move 12" and melt a squad of MEQ's with automatic hits and a 2+ to wound... ooh-hoo-hoo... I've angered a lot of people in games by insta-gibbing their Devs, Longfangs, or an entire 8 man squad bunched up behind a Rhino for cover.
