Chapter upgrades

Recommended Posts

Isn't about time GW made and produced/manufactured 'chapter upgrade' packs, yes they do it for BT and DA but I mean, what about the rest of us out there who play other chapters? I know us IF/CF players have them 'fists' symbols for our tanks, tact, assault and command shoulder pads and obv rhino/LR door upgrades on forgeworld, but I'm talking about symbold weapons, legs, chests, new weapon variations made.

A little example, a salamander upgrade pack that has flamers and TH with their chapter salamander head on....that'll just be siiiiiik....c'mon GW

who's with me?

The problem is that for GW, it's all about risk vs reward. They want to be fairly sure that something will sell well before they front up the money required to sculpt, mould and then manufacture all of the bits, let alone distribute them worldwide.

If they are of the view (and I suspect they are) that there are more people out there playing generic chapters (UM, IF etc) that they don't have to pay any more for, or that they are making their own conversion work out of green stuff and plasticard, they don't need to outlay any more for any of it.

Though I admit, some nice custom bitz packs to supplement the generally boring tactical kits they pump out by the truckload would be fantastic.

Yep fully agree with you about them having to fork out money, but we all want 'bling bling' more tact squads......I wished them to bring out the older MRKs of armour, but then FW did, I thought "sick, these look iiillllll" then looked at the price and was like :@

I have 25 MRK VI helmets but I want atleast 40% of my 4th company IF marines to be in MRk IV and VI armour....but FW's prices are robbery lol

I am getting a photo-ecthing kit to do this very thing.

Whats one if them may I ask fella?

And CyROX.....yes you are right.....I bought 20 of them Cf/IF shoulder pads from GW online store....(2 tac packs and the one with the Mrk V/VI flat shoulder pads)

I think for a lot of these chapters there are some bits already available?

Certainly the Salamanders have infantry bits available through FW, and the White Scars do have metal shoulder pads available to buy and the Iron Hands actually have a specific tac squad you can buy as well as being able to fit every bionic component on all the other kits.

Generally speaking I think that they've covered off most of the chapters quite well. I guess new chapter upgrade sprues would be good, but I think that with the kit already available and a bit of modelling work you can create some pretty impressive stuff.

Faaaanku loool still....we can always wish eh gamers?

Can I refer you to the rules? About text/colloquial/31133t speak... :D

Anywam back on topic..

It is definitely risk/reward here. It costs a lot of money to do a chapter specific sprue, which may not recoup the costs of a production run and packaging in an acceptable timeframe.

If its specific to an entire COdex, or a very well supported chapter, then its a different story. For less frequently encountered chapters its a little less likely. However, we do see as stated, lots of Forgeworld support. There are brass etch kits, crusade and heresy era armour packs and other details which can help customise and army.

It is for making detail pieces out of very thin brass sheet. Forge World sells them for certain marine armies. Here is an example: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-4000...RD-SYMBOLS.html
