MEanBOb
Clean and bright. Sort of off-putting for 40k, but its a nice change of pace. The freehand on the banner is pretty awesome. I think the metal could use a wash or two.

In a modern sense yeah, but the old 40k (ed 1-3) was very bright I agree with the wash idea though....the metals are far to clean and flat...old style or new. Space_Moron
Thanks guys. The hardest part of the banner was the green laurels beneath the eagle because I had to try and paint individual leaves. The lettering was done with a fine ink pen and his storm bolter was scratch-built from two normal bolters with one side filed flat. I used a heavy dry-brush for the swords but a lighter softer one for the guns. The metal panels on the bases weren't painted with metal at all -I used shades of gray because the rest of my army uses rocky gray and green grass for their bases. I didn't intentionally paint them "bright" maybe it was the lighting I used during the shoot. As for clean, well... they're not Orcs or plague marines... -Dan
MagicMan
Very nice Ultras, dude. The banner is especially nice. I think some of the solid gold parts, like the captains helmet, could benefit from a wash though. Would help add some depth to a mostly flat colour. Keep up the good work! perfectionist
I think they turned out very well! However I would really suggest to change the varnish you use. It is very grainy and makes the models look less good than they actually are. My models looked like this when I used the GW purity seal most of the time. After I switched to Testors dull coat I never had that problem again.
Space_Moron
Perfectionist- I notice the same thing especially when I try to spray the varnish in high humidity, I get a terrible "chalky" film. It's ruined an Eldar Jet Bike and a whole unit of Necrons in the past. So I will try the Testor dull-coat. Thank you.
