Starkhan Fellblade
I have a wolf lord with a frost axe and I was wondering what my brothers in the Aett have done when painting them. Pics would be great if possible! Thanks, Starkhan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219100-painting-frost-weapons/ Share on other sites
Alaitoc
I do mine like this: 1. paint the whole area with a mix of blue and white. 2. imagine how light world look through a frosted glass diamond- thingie...it will be dark up top, and light towards the bottom. take the two largest areas and blend the blue towards white in the bottom of these areas, and invert the process in the other, smaller areas. 3. blend down to darker blue towards the top of the large areas, invert the process on the smaller areas. 4. Outline the whole thing with white. 5. Gloss varnish it, if you feel like it! Here's an example of how it could look: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/0ab55c1a.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219100-painting-frost-weapons/#findComment-2612818 Share on other sites
Starkhan Fellblade
That looks like it would work well BTW how did you paint that pelt? Alaitoc
The pelt is a mix of bleached bone, skull white and chaos black painted on, then washed with devlan mud, then with badab black, then drybrushed with the same mix followed by another drybrush with the same mix + a tad more skull white followed by a drybrush of pure skull white! The thread you linked about frostblades is great, but it only shows the chainsword or "teeth" variant of the frostblades. The codex also say: "Sometimes frost axes are made from energized diamond, giving then the appearance of blades forged from pure ice!" That's what I go for, icey powerweapons, rather than the chainsword variant.
