Grimm Blade
Well, I just found an old metal marine lying around and had some spare time on my hands so I decided to create what could possibly be the beginning of my next army.... I wanted to start an army that isn't often built, I love the Flesh Tearers but they are becomming quite common these days. I think that the Flesh Eaters are comparable in ferocity and coolnes, but offer me the added oportunity to write some uncharted fluff. Here is the concept of the chapter color scheme: http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk57/GKTerminators/Flesh%20Eaters/FleshEater.jpg I wanted to get away from straight red so that they aren't just blood angels with a different chapter symbol, but I still wanted them to be recognizable as a sucessor chapter. And here is what I have done so far: http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk57/GKTerminators/Flesh%20Eaters/GKGM001.jpg http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk57/GKTerminators/Flesh%20Eaters/GKGM003.jpg http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk57/GKTerminators/Flesh%20Eaters/GKGM004.jpg http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk57/GKTerminators/Flesh%20Eaters/GKGM002.jpg I made the Flesh Eater symbol from GS, and made the bolters chain blade from.........you guesed it! A chainsword and GS ^_^. Still have a fair bit of work to do on this guy, but I couldn't wait to get some feed back on him. Let me know what you think. He is still a WIP and I haven't touched the black yet, it is still just primer ;) Yes the scars are orange with black. Judaz
Love the battle scars! The eyes are nice, but I can't stand glowing eyes myself ^_^ It looks darn good on a model, but I can't make myself paint it. Guess it's just me trying to fit the wh40k world into a realistic view. It's not very tactical to have shining eyes. I have the same problem with helmets. No helmet? Dead marine. Shiny eyes? Headshotted marine. ;) I wish I had the patience (and talent) to paint the red as good as you do. Keep it up! Grimm Blade
I am with you when it comes to wearing helmets, but I just can't stop myself from painting glowing eyes! I think they are very ominous. I also believe that it is pointless to try and apply too much logic to 40K :) I am thinking that these Flesh Eaters will be charging towards the enemy and ripping them limb from limb for the majority of the battle so glowing eyes won't interrupt with the battle plan too much :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219107-flesh-eaters/#findComment-2613051 Share on other sites
Plague Angel
That looks fantastic! I'm envious of your greenstuff ability. I may have to practice painting scars now. ancient god
Great work both on the chapter badge and the painting! Hope you show us more soon. Have you had a look at Chaplain Desmodus' take on the Flesh Eaters? They're quite far off GW's original image but so cool that it doesn't matter: http://flesheaters.net/ He also has a blog on here where he painted a couple canon-conform Flesh Eaters, you can find it in his profile. Grimm Blade
I have definitely seen Chaplain Desmodus' work, he is the only thing that comes up on the internet in relation to Flesh Eaters besides b-movies and medical articles! LOL His work is great! Here is my finished Flesh Eater: http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk57/GKTerminators/Flesh%20Eaters/GKGM0061.jpg http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk57/GKTerminators/Flesh%20Eaters/GKGM0071.jpg http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk57/GKTerminators/Flesh%20Eaters/GKGM0081.jpg http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk57/GKTerminators/Flesh%20Eaters/GKGM0091.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219107-flesh-eaters/#findComment-2613714 Share on other sites

ancient god
Hehe, no doubt about Desmodus dominating the FE area these last few years. ;) I love the scratching, especially on the frontal picture. Some of the scratches look a little broad and come across as pencil strokes, though. Only a couple of them but I thought I'd mention is seeing the quality you're achieving. The ones that caught my eye were on the back side of his bolter and the chain blade right beneath. Awesome work though, keep it up!
