Jorre
Er Hi my wolf friends! I don't usually venture into the wolf forums as I am a die hard Blood Angel, but I had a really cool idea for Logan Grimnar and a squad of long fangs with heavy bolters. I don't know how tactically sound it would be but it sounds like a lot of fun and I'd love to see the looks on my mates faces if I ever tried it. Anyway I just want to know if Logan can give the squad he is with (Long Fangs) Relentless on the same turn they deep strike out of a drop pod. Or even out of normal reserves could be quite handy as well. Or does he not give the rule unless he is on the board at the start of the turn ? Anyway please don't go all mark of the wolfen on me if this is a dumb question I am a bit of a Wolf Noob! dswanick
Welcome to the other side. :) In answer to your question : Q. Can Logan Grimnar benefit from his The HighKing special rule the turn he arrives from Reserves? And can Logan use The High King special rule at the beginning of the opponents turn? A. Yes and yes. nurglez
the tactic is dropping down with a squad of long fangs, with 5 missiles (or any other decent heavy weapon), and a wg in terminator armour with cyclone(possibly) and logan. logan gives the squad relentless, letting you shoot 7 missiles(or other assorted heavy weps) at 2 targets. Lord Ragnarok
Yes, quite viable, however best used with MM's. Want to be careful of wasting Logans CC capabilities. If I were to use this tactic I'd probably give them 2xMulti meltas, 2x ML, fist on pack leader and a WG in termie armor with fist or claws. Not sure if it would be a good idea but I think better than just using long range weaponry. Multi-melta fangs (all) then Wg with combi-melta and cyclone/chainfist, power weapon on the sgt, Logan. Works pretty good. MalachiOfRuss
I've been working on a list using this same tactic. I'm planning on combining it with the Apocalypse Skyhammer Orbital Strike Element formation. This will allow Logan with the Long Fangs to Drop Pod into the battle and 2 squads of Grey Hunters to pod within 6". I think it should work with the Grey Hunters acting as a screening force so that Logan doesn't get jumped on a counter-attack. It should be especially frightening if I'm playing against Tau. nurglez
I'm guessing that as they are multi meltas you try and drop in within 12 inches, and pop a landraider carrying a th/ss unit, next turn, logan and long fangs die because they are within 12 inches, they were an expensive suicide squad. I think 1 squad of 6 long fangs with 5 missiles, with logan in a drop pod is good, you can drop your unit up to 48 inches away, hitting side armour and threatening stuff, without being countered as easily due to range, and also offering str 9 missiles next turn if not dealt with :tu: adding in a cyclone for an extra 2 missiles, or maybe even a rune priest, could really up this units ability. I am sure as hell gonna try this out as soon as i've played my termies in drop pods with twc support list heh, but didn't want to use long fangs yet as I needed to see how pure terminator logan wing works. How was it countered? How was the opponents counter countered? The big problem was: in a foot slogging army, you cannot have a maximum range of 24 inches with your heavy weapons... the enemy simply kept all in reserve, then proceded in shooting me from afar, and attaking isolated squads Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219136-logan-and-long-fangs/#findComment-2614102 Share on other sites

I like Long Fangs and I like Logan leading them. Just whether it's worth running a 400+ squad together for the purpose of two tanks gone. That being said, I like the idea of Mult-Melta and plasma, or missles and plasma in a pod. Mobile plasma and missles, followed by strength 8 Plasma and 9 missles sounds a very appealing combination. Wildfire
Sad to say, but Logan'd probably be better without termie armor. Then you could put him and a squad of fangs in a transport, so they could roll up and unload.
