Frontline989
I've recently bought the Space Marine Commander box as well as the Space Wolf Accessories Frame with the intention of building a pimped out ornate looking Wolf Lord, more specifically Bran Redmaw. I know his fluff has him pegged as a MotW carrier however I don't find that option appealing for Independent Characters so I want to give him wargear that makes him reflect his savagery without going MotW. My set up thus far is something close to this. Also since I'd only use him in high point games I'm not much worried about total cost. He's a Lord so he deserves the best wargear. Bran Redmaw Power Armor Plasma Pistol Frost Axe Wolf Tail Talisman Belt of Russ Meltabombs edit: good call Saga of the Warrior Born Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219160-the-bloodied-hunter/ Share on other sites
Captain Juan Juarez
I know it's a quality piece of kit, but I dislike the Plasma Pistol.. Unfortunately there isn't another pistol-sized piece in the armoury - discounting the Bolt Pistol. I'd say Artificer Armour would be better - I'm Codex-less currently, but I'm almost sure Space Wolves get it? EDIT: Bel of Russ So they can hear him coming? ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219160-the-bloodied-hunter/#findComment-2613589 Share on other sites

I would agree if your not worried about cost go with the Runic Armor. dragon950
I almost see him using twin wolf claws and runic armor. I also give him a jump pack in apoc. games when I have the points to spare. Frontline989
We do but it's called Runic Armor. I would agree if your not worried about cost go with the Runic Armor. Looked at Runic Armor but it only has an invul save against psychic shooting attacks and I kinda feel like a WL needs an invul save to protect the point investment. I could see storm shielding him but then I'd loose any ranged ability and 1 attack for two close combat weapons. I wanted to get some use out of that 5 BS but its nothing I've set in stone yet. Schertenleib
Keep the Belt of Russ for the 4++. Take Runic instead of Power Armor for a 2+ Armor Save and the 5++ vs Psy. Keep in mind that it's "against wounds caused by psychic attacks". It doesn't have to be a shooting attack. As long as it's psychic in origin and causes wounds, you get a save. Kjarl Bluetooth
Problem is that he only has to fail one save from the inevitable PF/ML/TH and he's gone. It's not fluffy but if you want to keep your "investment" alive then you need to swap out Warrior Born for Bear. Heimdall Skullcrusher
I dont know if this is the confusion, but you can have Runic Armor and a Belt of Russ, if you have the points that is... Starkhan Fellblade
I dont know if this is the confusion, but you can have Runic Armor and a Belt of Russ, if you have the points that is... Yes but then the invulnerable save of the runic armor is negated by the belt which has a better 4++. Then the runic armor only gives you a better armor save. So is it worth the points? that question is best answered by the user of said lord. EDIT: Since both the saga of the bear and warrior born are 35pt make the decision between the two before each game. If you are facing a lot of high strength weaponry then take bear. If you are facing a horde of low strength orks take warrior born and trust your 4++ to save you from anything high strength. Like a power claw. Starkhan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219160-the-bloodied-hunter/#findComment-2614173 Share on other sites
Sarapham
I would say that the Runic Armor is definately worth the points even with belt of russ because it is the increased normal save that is the selling point, like a better TDA if you are buying the Belt of Russ as well, the anti-psych stuff is just a bonus. Schertenleib
Not to mention that you have back-up vs psych with the Wolf Tail. Psycher uses a power: Wolf tail to nullify Wolf tail fails and you take a wound: 5++ from the Runic Armor to save the wound. Even better if you have a Rune Priest within 24". Loketh
Maybe Runic Armor, Frost Weapon, and Storm Shield plus any extra goodies you want to give him. Same points as termy armor and that kit, and it more fits his fast-moving wolfish style. That's MY Bran Redmaw, as I play his company too :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219160-the-bloodied-hunter/#findComment-2614322 Share on other sites
