Evicerator
So as 2011 has rolled through and I am full swing into my 2nd month of winter unemployment, I find myself eye-ing my Salamander army that has been sitting in my closet for close to a year now. I started the army back in early 2009 from scratch for the most part. I had originally thought to go Blood Angels, but liked the color scheme and fluff associated with Salamanders. This army would also be my first solid foray into heavy green stuff customization and magnetization. What started out looking like this: http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/paintingtime.jpg quickly became this: http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/assaultsquadprimed.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/ccterminators.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/converteddreadcomplete01.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/devastators.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/landraidermagnetized01.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/landraidermagnetized02.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/powerarmourheavyflamers.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/sallierazorback.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/salliesergeantscales.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/sallylandspeeder1.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/sallylandspeeder2.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/vulkancomplete01.jpg Slowly but surely I began knocking out marine after marine with some paint: http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/sallytactical01.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/sallylandspeeder02.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/sallieheavybolter.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/assaultsquadscomplete.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/vulkanfinished01.jpg But then I ran outta gas and inspiration/motivation and everything got packed away into a closet. Fast forward a year to about 3 weeks ago. I had decided to sell my GW stuff off for some spare money to be spent on camera equipment (lenses). I had listed everything on Craigslist and got all of my pics together and made the ad. I reviewed the ad and bit by bit after seeing all of the pics, a small promethian fire began to kindle within me. Seeing my battle brethren in a sales ad only made the embers grow stronger. I ended up digging everything out and setting it up on a table to really take in all that I had assembled and done in that short 6 month period. I knew I would never look back upon these heralded marines and the fire within raged. I decided to keep them and have another go at finishing this army. That brings us to the here and now. I've already started gathering bits to assemble a Sternguard Squad of 10 armed with combi-meltas and heavy flamers. But my next likely project is to finish up the rest of my Multi-Melta marines (4) http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/2011wipthread/paintingheavyflamersandmultimeltas.jpg Getting everything started up tonight and will begin painting tomorrow. I hope to get some encouragement through this project and will likely update very often (if not daily) Thanks for looking. Grizzly_bear
Great modeling skills you have man....great work. Two points of constructive criticism: 1) it looks like your paints a tad Lil thick....add more water....more blended layers and they'll look much better than they already do (which is go btw) 2) sticking to 'fluff' salamanders never have (if that's how its spelt) skin colour.... "jet black skin with burning red eyes" If you take these two points on board than you'll be producing some great painted and modeled minis. Keep it up. Captain Mick
Indeed the above points can make it even better but really looks great, well done  . Evicerator
It's been a few weeks since my last post here. My g/f has been sick on and off and eventually ended up in the hospital with bad kidney stones/infections. Spent almost a week in the hospital with her and while recovering at home. I've also been working around the house cleaning and sorting things in order to make a makeshift area to use as a painting station. I came to the realization that I would need to buy or build a station instead. So while in the hospital during the times my g/f was sleeping/napping I drew and designed a paint station to accommodate all of my painting needs. With all of the designing done, just needed to grab some tools and wood to slap it all together (still waiting on the opportunity to snag the lumber... so that project is on hold. Plus I need for the weather to be a bit more cooperative as I'll be working outside (BLAST not having a garage or proper shed to work in...) seeing as it's been -18°C outside the last week -.-) With all of that said I have made a decent bit of progress with planning out my next unit to be built and painted. With the help of a couple of Bartertown.com members I have acquired all of the necessary bits to form a custom Sternguard squad. I also found a TON of useful bits when I went through my bitz collection and re-sorted it all into a newer and bigger bin. Also went through all of my paint stash and separated out all of the paints I'll be using to paint everything. While digging out the bag that contained all of my paints (something like 100+ pots...) I found some old Blast Terrain from GW, still in its packaging no less =D http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/2011wipthread/arrangingpaints01.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/2011wipthread/arrangingpaints02.jpg http://evicerator.com/evicerator/pictures/warhammer/2011wipthread/blastterrain.jpg I also found my old Windsor Series 7's, but not in great shape. So I placed an order a few days back @ dickblick.com for a 00, 0 , and a 1. Hoping to get those soon. So with all that's gone on in the last 2 weeks or so, I am hoping that this lousy start to 2011 will be the last of the road blocks for me (also hoping to overcome the anxiety associated with picking up a paintbrush again...) Got a lot accomplished (albeit, nothing painted -.-) for what little time I have had, but trying to stay positive.
