Furioso Conversion idea

PsY Crash

Recommended Posts

ok im really wanting to do some conversion work and build a furioso dread myself (i know a new kit is coming soon, but i have a specific idea) and pretty much what i want to do for starters is use a venerable dreadnought

seen here:

http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m890268a_99120101083_SMVenDread1_873x627.jpg

but what i want is a right handed CCW just like his left and add some bits and bobs to make blood talons and such. IS there any right armed powerfist types for dreadnoughts? and where could i get them? or is there a noob friendly way of maybe making one to the same quality as the left?

now i may not actually use the body, mainly im just using the left arm.

From my knowledge I cannot think of any I've seen anywhere, where they come already made or part of the model. Best bet is to get the left fist from bits site and convert it into a right fist. The 3 fingers look all the same length would just be a matter cutting the thumb off and putting it on te other side, bit of greenstuff work and done. Of course that depends on how your converting/greenstuf skills are.

i was just thinking of that, but ive never worked with GS or converting anything before so it would be a first time project. im thinking this might be the best way to do it. although im a bit lost on the shoulder bit to make it fit. guess i may need to buy a hobby drill.

Seems from the pic (I don't have one to look at in person) that the...er, palm? Lower part of the hand? Slants like a human hand from wider at the base of the thumb to narrower at the opposite end. Since it's not a perfect matter of right angles, that might complicate the simplicity of just throwing the thumb onto the other side.

yea i would probably have to shave/cut and rework it with GS. although it may just be easier to completely remove the fingers altogether and re attach them. the only thing im scratching my head about now is the shoulder and how to reverse it

Good point, but that is easily rectified by carefull cutting and some GS work.

The problem of the right powerfist arm however, might be sorted by waiting until the new BA dreadnought is released and just ordering one from a bitz site.

you meaning take the right arm and chop the hand onto it...... not a bad idea.

To me, it's the simplest and easiest idea. I often find that if you overcomplicate a model, it never works out well.

You just need a right arm, a left fist, some GS and a sharp knife (a little patience works wonders too!)

To do the right arm just try and get your hands on a ironclad right arm. Shorten the "forearm" section where you have the bumpy part keeping the flat armoured part.

The fist and its angles is the tricky part, but heres what I knocked up since my last post(since I'll never use it anyways). I got a little step by step if you want it. For some reason I feel the need to help as much as I can, and probably comeing across as an showoff egotistical arse. I'm Really not but should give you a good idea of how to go about it.

Hope it helps. The greenstuffs little messy but as always looks better in ral life. Cut off a little from the fingers to make them allthe same length. The angle on the thumb can be sorted by a little trimming.

If you don't want to make any conversion work, you can always order a warjack hand from a bitz store. Cygnar Jacks' hands usuallly fit best.

I was just about to write this also until I read KD's post. :) ...I bought a bunch of the Warjack plastic kits before there was any talk of a new dreadnought model. You can also order bits on ebay...
