Electromancer
Greetings. I've dabbled in chaos quite a bit but not too seriously, I enjoy sculpting random mutated things and have done a few Great Unlcean Ones in the past. Thought i'd post up a few things of warpyness here and possibly it might turn into an army blog of sorts in the future. Got a new Great unclean one on the go, this is to test out if i can get on with using sculpey. Im planning on making it a bit more sinewy and muscular of sorts than the usual GUO, obviously still all rotten and diseased still. Going to add a few bits of armour, some big horns, intestinal spillage, loads of nurglings and possibly some kind of trophy rack on the back, although the trophies will actually be the contagions being brewed up within the "trophies". http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/guo3wipf2.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/guo3wipl2.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/guo3wipr2.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/guo3wipb2.jpg one thing i didnt really allow for is the horns and back rack which i wish i'd added some support from the armature, but i guess i can sculpt them separately and add them after, guess thats something i can add to things i've learnt from this sculpture. Probably going to bulk up the lower body a bit since its too top heavy than i want, but overall i think its coming along alright kept adding detail and refining things, i really like the fact i can alter things as much as i like as i progress, such as changing the face quite considerably http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/guo3wipf3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219405-for-pappa-nurgle/ Share on other sites
Neophyte of Slaanesh
Well, I'm rubbish at sculpting so I can't really provide constructive criticism/tips, but I did want to say he's looking lovely. Very nice! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219405-for-pappa-nurgle/#findComment-2616816 Share on other sites
ShotgunFacelift
Great start! The face is looking pretty disgusting and nurgly. What material are you using? Electromancer
Thanks for the comments! im using sculpey - its great stuff but you have to cook it which is the only down side really. No idea who/what trollface is (is that bad? ;) ) did look like him early on though! Personally i think the GUO is the perfect start to sculpting, you can practise using the material and various techniques and still end up with something you'll like, and if you struggle on something (like the hands/face) then you can just add some weird nurgly stuff and its still good. Heres another update http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/guo3wipf4.jpg I added the armour, its only roughly placed on so i can alter it if needs be, big horns/antler things are also just to get an idea of what its going to be like and put in where the back poles/racks are going, thinking of just having them protrude from the body, although might have a strap or two connected to the armour, can add it as i go to see what i think looks best. Going to sculpt a few nurglings and maggots and the like to add on as well as another sword stuck in the ground seperatly, i want this guy to look a bit more like a fighter and looking like he'd dual wield is just cool. As a side note i ordered a light tent so should be getting better pics again soon Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219405-for-pappa-nurgle/#findComment-2621043 Share on other sites
Electromancer
Ahhh, well that was a bit of an expanded break So some new pics, I baked him and found an ok method which didnt crack it, only a piece of the base broke which i dont care about as im going to glue it down on that resin base i cast and then sculpt lots of stuff on top: http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/guo1f.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/guol1.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/guor1.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/guob1.jpg Thanks for looking and off i go to make some nurglings! Also I made this thing to be one of my dreadnoughts, i really like dreads and plan to make a few of them which will all be a bit of a mish mash of ideas http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/DGdreadf1.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/DGdreadl1.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/DGdreadr1.jpg http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv329/Eversormancer/DGdreadb1.jpg I might add some more detail like some cables and a couple of tanks or something, thanks for looking :thumbs Edited May 27, 2011 by Electromancer Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219405-for-pappa-nurgle/#findComment-2773536 Share on other sites
1Drop
Haha, that's pretty cool bro. If you want more cc on sculpting I would join the forum 'papa nurgle' as everyone on there sculpts nurglesque stuff. If you are already a member then say hello, I'm 'Rotten Face' over there. Wardiel
Loving the sculpts. I've only done a couple simple original models (for a non 40k army though) and they definitely lacked the kind of detail you have here. Especially like the rotted cracked armour on the GUO. I tip my hat to you, sir. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219405-for-pappa-nurgle/#findComment-2788950 Share on other sites
