IA : The Sentinels

In theory, I'm labouring the point that your Chapter can follow the humanitarian lines of the Salamanders; nice may be a stretch too far, but the Salamanders have a history of working alongside and on behalf of the peoples and prganisations of the Imperium.

I Thank you very much Captain, i appreciate it.

I'll develop the chapter's heraldry and colour scheme tomorrow, I think. I will add it to the original post.

I think i can figure something about the Chapter Master Telchar and Master Artificer Tyrian during nighttime...I'll see.

And, also in theory, I'm arguing that not even Salamanders are as nice as your marines. Again, that's in theory. I edited my above post with a response to your post that I missed. I agree with Mr. Juan, or the Dread Pirate Roberts, if I remember my movie facts correctly, we should agree to disagree and stop utterly destroying your dream of a well organized thread filled with useful criticism.

That's the strange about my marines. They may not be terribly nice, but at least they're quite human.

That is what I like, feel free to give feedback about that, I like to see others' opinions about my thoughts. :whistling:

Also, about my previous post about numbers...I guess you're right. Let's end this once it for all: my chapter's complete strenght is of 1450 people.

No more discussions about numbers now, for the sake of the Emperor!

EDIT: Suggest me some colour schemes, instead

They may not be terribly nice, but at least they're quite human.

this seems fine to me, especially after reading the HH novels. Loken seems pretty human in these, and is seen to develop a considerably high amount of compasion for a killing machine. I think there is a quote in one of the books from Sindermann saying something like "youre more than just a warrior now loken" or something....

Compasionate marines can still be killers. Loken was still a captain afater all. I think it sometimes helps to have a marine realise he isnt human, and is a weapon of protection for humanity. There are several quotes from dawn of war 2 with Thaddeus (being the "youngest" marine) talking in a much more "human" way than Avitus for example. Marines are killing machines, agreed, but they still have free will etc. Thats why some chapters rebell even now.

Loken is an anomaly I believe; author wants reader to empathise with the character to make what heppens much more dramatic and powerful, but *shrug*.

There is Nice: "Mr Space Marine, sir, my kitten is stuck in a tree..."

And then there is nice: "Excuse me, Mr Space Marine, sir, would you mind awfully killing the Orks who are eating my family? Instead of going off for hundreds of miles and chasing the fast wunz away?"

*Marine then stabs civilian for talking like an Ork*

Loken, as with many of the main Horus Heresy series characters, had to be changed from maniacal killing machine to a more human and emotional marine so that the reader could identify with him. It's not much fun reading about someone whose thoughts are "Purge the Xenos! Burn the Heretic! Cleanse the mutant" all the time. You don't get any character development out of that.

Even if the Space Marines are killing machines , this doesn't mean that they can't be at least "human". I don't intend to create a chapter of boyscouts (Oh, god, no!!!), they still kill the enemies of man without thinking twice. I just wanted to have some true defenders of humanity, not a bunch of fanatics and blind zealots that kill everyone on sight, telling others that this is what the Emperor wants (no, i'm not talking pf the Black Templars).

Is this that terrible? ;)

Loken is not anomaly, he is Great Crusade marine. The psycho-conditioning, hypno-therapy and what not come later after the whole mess with Horus & co.

The problem is that Space Marines are made like that.

They are not knights in shining armour. No, they are Angels of Wrath, who came here to beat a crap out of sinners and reprobates.

I believe that NightrawenII's signature shows how he disagrees to a nice-boys chapter...

EDIT: thanks for the revelation, however ;)

In fact this is what they do. But as we can see, this is different from chapter to chapter: as the Black Templars prefer to kill everything with fire, the Salamanders do not.

And, as the gene seed deteriorates furing time, as well chapters' tradition change and adapt. It would be strange to see a man saying that what was written thousands of years before is still actual (apart from chatolics).

Here are the colour schemes for the Chapter. I'll post the links, it seems I'm no good uploading them.

The first one is the basic marine of the Chapter, while the second is for the Ironwatch.

To post it directly, just put [/img] around the url of the image

Is it normal that in the post preview the image is not shown?

Tried some times, it seems i can't see images,

If you Preview Post you should see it, otherwise you won't until you post it.

Which version of the SM Painter are you using? If you use the latest, V0.9?, then there is a button called "Use on the B&C"or some such - that will give you the entire code to display the pic as a pic.

Did you read my happy little steps to success at posting pictures/world domination in post #41. I know CJJ's comments can be intimidating, but if you look past and above them, little golden nuggets are to be found. <_<
I'm using version v0.5 because of wargear options. Also, I'm an aficionado of the old version.

It seems i can't post images... <_<

If you use the url provided by the with the BBCode you should have no problems; Have a gander at B&C BBCode 101

EDIT: Intimidating = Spends too much time posting, or that's how I read it :P

CMIDs steps will help, but are much more labour intensive in the long run.. Have a look at that link anyway, will help when you come to jazzing up the IA.

However, did anyone actually read the changes I made to the IA?

I'm beginning to believe that just me read them... <_<

We also finally stated that this chapter can be an austere group of marines that secretly enjoy to help old ladies cross the road and give charity to the poor ratlings?

EDIT: As said before, i finally found the solution to posting images. See above

No, I didn't.. I'm leaving the large jobs of critiquing IAs until tomorrow, for the reason that I'm shortly going to finish work - not that I've done much work :P - and don't want my brain on overdrive before I go to sleep.

While this is true, I think it's also due to the fact that Pre-Heresy trials and conditioning for Space Marines were different, it was less *brainswashing and psycho-hypnotic conditioning* and more *intense training and psychological indoctrination*.

Post-Heresy and anything that can more effectively grant you the knowledge that your marines won't turn from your cause, the better.

I could be wrong, but that's my opinion.
