As long as the first model affected is a viable target (in Los, not in combat, in range and an enemy unit) then the line simply extends until the full 24" and will also target any models beyond regardless of whether they are usually a viable target. As such you can kill models from both sides including those in close combat.

This is how I understand it as well.

This is how I see it too. Good to hear confirmation though.

On the ruins front (which I apologise for adding to this original Jaws thread) - MC can climb ruins and the rule is that if the model can Physically Fit - then it is allowed.

Damn that ruin in my games ! I'm going to have those bloody Hive Guard hiding up it every bloody opportunity they get. No doubt quickly followed by a scared Tervigon ;)

Well, from a rules point it would be as follows.

As a psychic shooting attack, trace a stright line along the board, starting from the Rune Priest and ending 24" away. This line may pass through terrain. Monstrous creatures, beasts, cavalry, bikes and infantry models that are touched by this line must take an Initiative test.(bgb p.8) If the models fails the test, it is removed from play. Monstrous creatures subtract 1 from thier dice roll due to their tremendous size and strength. A roll of a 6 is always a failure."

From the faq

Q. Does Jaws of the World Wolf require line of sight?

Does it ignore terrain that blocks line of sight (i.e.,

impassable terrain)? (p37)

A. As a psychic shooting attack, Jaws of the World Wolf

requires line of sight. The Rune Priest must have line of

sight to the first model that the power affects – in effect he

is treated as the target model; the power just happens to

hit everybody else on its way through

So on a purely rules basis - you have to have line of sight to the first model affected (which as this is a shooting attack, lets also say can therefore not be in combat.) The rest of the faq is then VERY clear. the power just happens to hit everybody else on its way through. That's friends, enemies, folk in combat etc etc.

Q does a second unit etc therefore get coversaves?

No, as you can't take coversaves vs something that does no wounds.

It's a simple initative test, if it fails it is "removed from play." No Cover, no Invunerable, no Eternal Warrior, Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect the Emperors Forgiveness. Just fall down.
