Inquisitorial Dice!

interesting... who made them, what material are they?

Its solid brass and I will let you know when they arrive ;)

That photo was sent to me from the master craftsman who had designed these custom dice, they were the final prototype before he makes the complete set for me, including scatter dice and dice with Roman numerals.

That's pretty cool! I'd be interested to know the specifics too. Size, price and where to get them. Thanks!

How much did they cost?

$20 for 6 + $5 for a custom etched image. I am spending $100 for 22 dice delivered, and will order myself more later.

The dice are 3/4 of an inch, not small but then if they were too small you would have a chance of loosing them. Been solid brass

they are probably on the weighty side so I am not rolling them on a battle board, getting a wooden hand made bowl to roll my dice in.

If they are too big for you, the company did say they were looking at making smaller dice soon.

If you are a persistent eBay treasure hunter like myself, it is possible to find official "Inquisitor Dice" for the old Inquisitor game. Admittedly, they are not quite as fancy as the OP's dice. ;)

There is only one issue with those dice, the Inquisitorial symbol seems to be on the single pip side.

As a psychological issue, in Warhammer 40k if you roll a 1, you are usually unhappy. If the image for your dice is on the 1, then you start to hate seeing it, and eventually dislike the dice.

Note: I will give all contact and order details about the dice once I have my own in hand.

Good point.

Do you know if they are balanced? Not that it likely matters, the weight of the brass is going to keep it from rolling as far as other dice.

The master craftsman uses solid rods of brass, cuts them and machines them to some crazy thousandth of an inch and ensures accuracy. Anything made from a mold is usually quite a bit off.

There is also the risk of a dice having air bubbles inside it. Ever wondered why some dice seem to be a little more lucky and others not so lucky? people who roll their dice allot, soon learn

which dice roll more favourably and use those.

These dice will be about as random as anything can be.

What the Inquisition giveth, it taketh away.

Actually, I much prefer that the image is on the single pip side (it also kind of looks like a '1'). I remember the first game I played with my B&C dice (the previous edition). I fired a blistering salvo of storm bolter rounds and didn't roll a single '6.' Or that's what it first appeared like. I had the sudden realization that my new dice were harder to use than ordinary dice, especially if you mixed them together. And then I thought, if it was harder for me, what about my opponent? He'd never seen them before. I never used them again.

I bought a set of the most recent B&C dice and found that the numbers on each side looked too similar. Again, I had that sinking realization that ordinary dice are easier and faster to use. So while I don't regret buying two sets of B&C dice since I helped support the site, I probably won't use them.

I have a whole box full of 'Ceremonial Dice'. Played one game with my new B&C dice and then they joined the previous ones in the box. I bought them to support the site and as a thing to have.

I've gotten used to my 72 red dice with black pips and to play with others takes ever so slightly longer as I actually have to recognise and process the markings and not rely on trained instincts. They consume less 'head space' and I play better.

Well I finally got time to take photos and weigh the dice, each dice weights in at 52g (1.8oz), they are large and quite lethal...

They would destroy a battle board if rolled in a hand full. A wooden bowl is the best bet.

Either way they are amazing and you almost have the feeling that your rolling the dice to decide in the fate of the Empire.

If you want to know where I purchased them from, then speak to illinoisvalleycustoms1 ebay.

They are quite pleasant to deal with and now that they have done the hard work of doing the etching design, can have them done for you in no time.

The prices are reasonable too.

I don't know, I like my dice simple so that at a glance I know what I'm rolling...yours are clear but the sheer size and mass of them means it would cause a lot of vibrations, rumbling, noise, may be potentially damaging, and bloody heavy to roll handfuls of.....

Oh but thats part of the charm, they are so big and heavy, it brings fear into your enemy. :D

Haha true, you could use them as a weapon if there are any.....disputes.

"So, do you want to *roll off* on this dispute?"
