Figured I should start a WIP thread for myself where I can just quickly dump pictures and get some feedback and there are definitely a ton of inspiration WIP threads on here. I have been doing some conversions on my blog, but I haven't been getting a lot of feedback. :D Here's a couple conversions I've been working on.

Razorback with Twin-linked Heavy Flamer Turret:

I like both kitbashes but as modelled I don't see the TLHF doing any real damage from the front unless you powerslide your side armour into the enemy's front; disembark your 6-man to either 11 o'clock or 2 o'clock of the enemy; BBQ 'em and Charge 'em. In essence all I'm saying is, that because the template should get placed at the tip of the HFs, frontal evisceration will be least effective from a tactical POV. Nonetheless, S5 and reroll Wounds is nothing to sneeze at!

It doesn't work as well, but I think it probably works better than you would think... See pics below. As to how I use it, I typically use the power slide. The armour is 11 on the front and the side, so it's not like I'm at a disadvantage for doing so. I want my Death Company up close anyway and it's a free upgrade, so it's a no brainer for me.

Granted for these pics I perfectly lined up the miniatures so I have them all under the template, but that is a 10 man tactical squad suffering righteous fury. So you figure I can probably catch at least 5 or 6 out of 10 which isn't too shabby.

Nice conversions TheHarrower! Especially like the LasPlas turret, I may have to do a couple myself.

Thanks! I'll have a tutorial up on my blog shortly on how I made mine.

Great looking comversion, love that flamer!

Only problem with the Las/Plas is that it's hard to show which weapon that is destroyed and which is working when they are glued together. I've seen a couple of builds where the plasma guns were placed at the hatches in front of the lascannon. Doesn't look as good as yours, but it's easier to have from a playing POV.

have to ask though, the red paintjob on the heavy flamer looks...odd. is the top of the armour plate textured oor something? :P

It's smooth. I just dry brushed it to get some color on it quick. The reason it looks raised is because of the lighting and the way the camera catches the light.

My wife bought me the SP200 Photo Studio In a Box for my birthday yesterday. You can learn more about it and buy one on Amazon here. I wanted to mess around with it to see what kinda of results I could get. Here's a few test shots.

My Death Company Rhino back from the 3rd Edition days. This model made final cut for Golden Demon, but didn't place because I glued it to a scenic base. I believe I might have been one of the first people to put a vehicle on a scenic base because no one else had them that year. The judges were arguing and one of them wanted to put it in, but the other bloke won out. Sissy. Reason I didn't win was because "I couldn't use it in a game". The only reason I glued it was so it wouldn't fall and get broken. ^_^

This is the Baal Predator that I entered in the following year at Golden Demon. That year I didn't make any cut because I didn't bring a scenic base! Seems I started a trend the year prior and everyone was sporting cool bases. I was so upset about the irony that I never entered Golden Demon again...

The old and the new. That's the first Blood Angels figure I painted along with my latest converted Razorback. My new minis need a lot of work until I'm satisfied with them, but I'd rather have an army painted to table top quality than a couple really well painted miniatures and the rest of my army sporting primer.

My first impressions on the Photo Studio are that it's pretty awesome. I'm really happy with these pictures. I'll have a full review on my blog in a few days and post again when I do.

  • 2 weeks later...

Been getting away from vehicles recently and working on my infantry. Here are 3 Sanguinary Priests I just put together. They are magnetized so I can switch out the options.

And here I'm messing around with Army Painter Dragon Red. I want to find a more streamlined way to paint my guys. Brushed on Mechrite Red on the left, Army Painter Red spray right over plastic. Have to say, so far I'm really impressed with the Army Painter Primer.

That TLHV conversion is the best i have seen to date, will have to steal that eventually.

The TLPG/Lc looks good too, better than my attempt anyway, I just used 1 plasmagun turned sideways.

Thanks! :) I have tutorials on my blog if you need them.
