Here's an update on my Sternguard. Thought I could do better than the FInecast Boxed Set and I was too cheap to drop the cash so I made my own.

Really happy with how these turned out. Now I need to take off all the mold lines and prime them. More soon. I'm using these guys in a tournament this weekend! :wallbash:

Been working on my own version of Mephiston. I didn't want to use Astaroth like most people do, so this is what I came up with. I still need to fix up the sculpt as there are a lot of air bubbles and some other issues. Also, need to add the hose back into the psychic collar and I'm probably going to add one to the force sword as well. I'm considering attempting to turn his head slightly to make his less static, but I'm afraid I'll ruin him. Should I leave it as is or go for it? I'd love to get some feedback.

Leave the head as it is. A slight head turn wont be worth the effort.

I like the flamer.

That's from the Sternguard Finecast kit from GW.

I finished Mephiston months ago and I did leave the head as is. Not too happy with the paint job though that's why there's no updated pic.

I didn't realize the back marines were so blurred. Here's a pic of just those guys.

Looks promising... Good choice of decor.

I knew you would approve. :thanks:

Well, I didn't get my Sternguard done, but I did manage to tie for second place in the tournament. I painted the Sergeant pretty well I'm posting him here. I'm in my last week of class for Advanced Game Characters so I doubt I'll get much done this week. I plan on hopefully finishing up my first vow by next weekend. More soon...

I should have been working on my vow, but I got distracted and brought out my Mephiston model and touched him up. Really happy with how this came out. There is a lot of subtlety here that I just can't pick up with a camera. Eventually I'll figure that out.

Man, am I behind. Sternguard are done except for the bases, but I don't think I need the bases done to count this as completed. Have to finish the Attack Bike and the Stormraven. More soon!

Here's the work in progress on the Stormraven. Had a lot of cracks to fill. Just gave it a bath in some soapy water. First thing tomorrow I'll prime it.

Done with about 12 hours to spare!

Not up to my usual standards, but beggars can't be choosers. It definitely suffices as tabletop standard.

This needs a LOT of work, but for a 3 hour paint job I can't complain. I sticky tacked the turret guns on because I plan to magnetize. The canopies are missing because I am going to tint them.

They look pretty good for speed painting! What colour are you going to tint the canopy? I was thinking green for mine (Tamiya do a good one). I must say I do like the 'winglets' on the front; not too grat for line of sight mind but certainly balences it out.

Thanks!  Very annoyed I had to go the speed painting route and that I didn't contribute more, but I managed my time poorly. Maybe next time I'll do better.

I'm going to go with green too and try RIT dye. I've seen other people do it and it looks awesome. I'll post a tutorial on my blog when I do it.

I like the front wings too. When I did my first Stormraven, I never intended on taking the Hurricane Bolters so LOS wasn't an issue. I've thought about putting them elsewhere and using the ones from the Ravenwing Dark Talon, but I didn't really want to change where they fire from. I've actually prototyped an extension on them so they are in the same place and the sponsons just stick out more. Not only does it help with LOS, it helps with the silhouette of the model and looks better. That'll be one of my next projects after I finish really painting this stuff.

Nice one sounds good, and I will keep an eye out for your tute as I am about as far along with my Raven and looking for ideas (I picked it up cheap from a local Ravenguard player before they had access to it and the pilot is painted in their colours tint should hide it without resorting to a block of colour)
