Conversion Beam

I was playing around with bits and pieces to see if I could come up with a Master of the Forge equipped with the conversion beam. Now I have been trying to use the plastic bits I have on hand along with recycleing some of my unused models as well and this is what I have put together.

He is not very Tech Marine looking right now but I am pleased in how the gun looks. I'll try to get the gun basecoated and weathered for the next time and maybe add some armour plate detail.

All for now.

 Sweet Emperor's Mercy man!

Well...yeah, it's big...and definitely cool looking. I would try and find some way to make it look a bit more "realistic" (always feel silly using that term in 40k) to convey the weight of that monster. A servo harness with one arm holding up that beast would be an interesting solution I think.

Ok. I thought about your suggestion brother Firepower and added the servo arm to give the gun more heft. And it works! Here are two new pictures of my Master of the Forge.

and with a bolt pistol for detail.

He`s now ready for paint I think. But instead of red, I may do the helmet white just to break things up a bit. I`m also thinking of leaving the connector pins bare as well. The bare metal would be a nice contrast to the black body.

So I`m guessing that there are some other folks here who work in aviation as well? I`m an aircraft mechanic working in Toronto.

And just for fun, here's the "Who wants some!" picture. Looking down a barrel full of hurt.

My Master of the Forge is painted. A late night session has him finished with just a little work left to do on the base. So now for your viewing pleasure I give you the Master of the Forge.

I've been thinking of doing a squad of converted Marine Scouts for his servitors. We'll see.

The black parts of the gun are crying out for a good drybrush of boltgun metal or something. Also I would have filled the witness hole on the electrical pins, just looks a bit unsightly.

Love the model as a whole though!

Thanks for the kind words.

To deal with the issue of inclines, I superglued a nickel under the base. This was a trick I used with a squad of four Plasma Cannons. The old style metal ones always tipped over. The other thing was that when I read the stats of the conversion beamer; I didn't picture a shoulder mounted weapon but a big gun. In my mind I hear the wave motion gun from Space Battleship Yamato, or the BFG gun from good old Doom. Huge plasma sphere of death kind of thing.

As for him not being very "techy" looking Brother Kassill, I wasn't really keen on giving him all the cables, hoses and stuff. My background has my Marines declared traitors by the Admech and I see that as a reason to throw off all the trappings of the machine god. Or I just couldn't be bothered since I was inspired to build the conversion beam with what I had on hand. I always try to do what I can with plastic since it is easier to work with.

Anyway, the base should be easy to finish and then a post of an actual finished figure. Hazaa!

I touched the base up and here is the finished miniature.

I've got my other HQ figures finished and will post them as well. I'm glad people like him.
