Thanks, I want to keep the army littered with free hands as thats something I know I can do ok:)

the yellow is done like this:

chaos black undercoat

vomit brown as base colour

highlights with bleached bone

highlights with skull white

then cover the first stage with thin coats of golden yellow

add a few coats of loads of patience- done! :teehee:

Very nice Imperial Fists - this is exactly how the yellow should be done, somewhat glossy and STRONG.

All I could criticize would be the highlights 'round their noses, but I think that's a matter of personal preference.

I like what you've done with the predator, the black areas make it much more interesting.

And the freehands are brilliant - do you by any chance have a step-by-step for that? Or a tutorial?

Very nice Imperial Fists there, the painting is top notch and the freehanding is excellent but I think the thing I like the most about the paint job is the attention to detail. I always prefer Marines that have little characterful details about their armor, sometimes I can tend to go overboard with such things, especially on tanks, but you've got a nice balance that makes the details stand out and the little things like the "Dorn" on one marine's shoulder pad and the lightning bolt on another's knee pad just add that level of personal touch and character to an army that I don't see that often. Very well done, I look forward to seeing more!

@Sharp Well i wouldnt say I use NMM as such, I do not fully master the technique. But I do not use metallic paints. I use white/greys and add glazes of blue to add a metallic feel to it.

@Rogan. My technique to making free hands is quite simple, once I have an idea of what I intent to make I place the two outer dots as marks of what comes in between. So for the eagle on the bellow banner I placed two dots, the most left wing and right wing and then use a fine detail brush to draw the lines.

Then there is also practice, as a brush can ´collapse´ whilst you are drawing the pics, where a pencil wouldnt, you need to practice alot on tiles etc. so you now how much pressure to apply without pressing to hard.

example and WIP :)
