breng77
While the SM battle force appears to be a better deal monitarily, the BA battleforce has more useful units in it. Everyone can use a Rhino (even if only for conversion), Assault marines are useful in BA and not in SM. Not everyone uses scouts. The death company gives you a lot of nice options. While I'm not happy with the $10 price jump, it is not even among the worst battle forces. Chapter Master Ignis Domus
GC08 is going to come in here at any second. You just watch. Congrats on the battle force! Though it's a better deal for us, I think it may be because they felt sorry for our massively overcosted heavy weapons. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219906-blood-angels-battleforce-confirmed/page/2/#findComment-2625156 Share on other sites
noodle-j
I would have rather they made the BA battleforce more unique like they have done with the DA ravenwing box or to a lesser extent the SW battleforce. You can start a BA army just as easily with a SM battleforce, and for cheaper too. So with that in mind it would have been nice for it to be something like a furioso, some assault marines and DC or something. We have so many nice units that could have been included to expand existing BA players' armies and probably get a lot more sales, too. Unless I decide to build a company I'm definitely avoiding this box. I've got enough tacticals and rhinos already. RAS and DC cost £39 together, there's much more worthwhile units to spend the other £21 on, unfortunately. Edit: How long has a box of RAS been £18.50?! That's not cool... (not saying i wouldn't have liked to see it diffrent, but the SM force is a better deal, if you want it all, if not, then no.:P) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219906-blood-angels-battleforce-confirmed/page/2/#findComment-2625288 Share on other sites
breng77
While I am surprised it is so close to the SM set, I am not surprised that they did not include too much other BA specific stuff as they want you to buy other sets as well. I think that 5 Death company, and 15-20 Assault marines would have been a nice BA set Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219906-blood-angels-battleforce-confirmed/page/2/#findComment-2625301 Share on other sites
The Neophyte of War
Howdy! Neophyte of War here just asking the question. Is the new Blood Angels battleforce worth it? From my initial look I would have to say no. I was dissapointed that this battleforce only comes with 5 assault marines, which is odd because GW's main selling point for BA is that they are assault oriented. Wouldn't it made more sense to have 10 assault marines and 5 tactical marines. Better yet get rid of all the tactical marines and have 15 assault marines? Also why am I going to spend the money on this set when it comes with less than the Space Marine battleforce and costs more? -NoW Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219906-blood-angels-battleforce-confirmed/page/2/#findComment-2625372 Share on other sites
Whitefireinferno
Because of Jump packs cost more and its fully a box of 10 fancy Jump pack Assault marines and 10 Tacs with Rhino Over in NZ you still get a Rhino/DC/RAS squad for free compared to buying them separate Hell there is a good chance you could make them 20 RAS if you have a couple of chainswords to spare. Zealadin
Who really cares...... Its still not a good deal.... particularly if you get the same horrid sprues totally lacking in options as the normal SM battleforce. shatter
It's a convenient amount of money for a mummy or daddy to spend on a mildly spoiled teen. I think that's a big part of the decision making process. Plus, for older group players, squads can be swapped as the weakest (by popularity; tacticals) are also the most common squad played. igotsmeakabob!!
Were I to be starting a BA force now rather than having owned a number since 3e, this would be a decent starting point. The force allows you to make a number of configurations: 10 Assault Marines and 10 Tacticals. 10 Assaults 10 foot-slogging DC 10 Tac 5 Assault 5 DC I imagine there are a couple other configurations one could make.. throw in a SanGuard box and you increase the number radically, allowing for the creation of ICs etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/219906-blood-angels-battleforce-confirmed/page/2/#findComment-2625820 Share on other sites
