Irabrai
Similar to most of my battle reports, its a case of Loyalists v Chaos, in this case 2000 a side, Ultramarines + Blood Guard v Emperors Children and Iron Warriors. http://img573.imageshack.us/img573/4272/1setup.jpg http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/1017/2setup2.jpg We'd rolled on the table and got an(other) Annihalation battle, but unlike normal, we had a corner deployment mission. The loyalists (future reference we) rolled highest and chose for them to deploy first and then get the deployment, but then we managed to steal the initative and the battle got started. The first thing to happen would be that a pair of Drop pods dropped out of the sky. Behind the enemy lines an Ultramarine Tactical squad emerged from the pod, and closer to the front lines a Death Company Dread rumbled forwards aiming its melta gun at the closest target; an Iron Warrior Vindicator. Unfortunately, it didnt suceed in destroying it, only rattling the crew around inside making them unable to fire in their next turn. The Ultramarines were slightly better off taking a few wounds off the Khorne Daemon Prince. Most of the other units moved up to try get ready for the coming fight. http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/6534/3loyalt1.jpg As was expected, a set of Iron Warriors clambered out of their Rhino and leveled a pair of meltaguns at the Dread, and the Nurglite Chaos Marines moved forwards and did the same. Also, A plague Marine squad got out of their Rhino. A squad of Noise marines moved towards the Tactical Squad (which had split itself into a pair of combat squads at the start of the battle) shot at them and then charged. At the same time the Slaaneshi Daemon Prince charged the second squad. Between the 4 meltaguns targeting the Death Co Dread, and turned it into scrap in a huge explosion, taking out 3 Iron Warriors and 4 Nurglite CSM's. Also the undamaged IW Vindicator shot and destroyed the UM Vindicator but nothing went up with it. The Slaaneshi DP slaughtered half of the Tactical Marine squad and them moved on, whereas the Noise Marines only succeeded in taking out 4 of the other squad, leaving the Sergeant on his own, valiantly defending himself http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/6587/4chaost1.jpg In the Loyalist turn 2, the Land Raider Redeemer sped across the battlefield and took out part of the park, and unleashed its incumbents, an 8 man tactical squad, their Chapter Master Pavi Largo (Gabriel Seth) and a Sanguinary Priest. They promptly charged at the Nurgle CSM' in front of them, and a rhino moved up and a chaplain aimed an infernus pistol at the side of the Vindicator, but failed to score a hit. The Attack bike continued its flanking move, and the UM Rhino moved up slowly in comparison behind it. The Hunter killer missile on the top of the Land Raider also accounted for the IW rhino that the Plague Marines were inside, and the UM attack bike accounted for the other IW Rhino The UM Captain charged into combat with the closest Vindicator but failed to score a hit with his meltabombs. http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/1010/5loyalt3.jpg http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/7928/6loyalt3a.jpg On the other side of the battleground, the UM sergeant still posed a threat for the Noise Marines and still stood in definace, surviving the fight and killing a few CSM's in return. http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/7874/8umvnoisecombat.jpg In the other Combat, the Blood Guard Chapter Master and his retinue killed a few CSM and suffered no casulties as well. Chaos turn 2. Seeing some of his former comrades in trouble, the Khorne Daemon Prince jumped into a gap in the field to charge into the melee in the middle of the battlefield. The Plague Marines also charged in. A skulking Emperors Children predator moved around the building nearby and shot at the Redeemer but failed to damage the tank. http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/8393/9turn3combata.jpg http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/5337/10chaost3moving.jpg The Iron Warrior Chaos Marine squad also charged into the attack bike and destroyed it. The Ultramarine Sergeant was still holding the Noise Marines up whilst the Slaaneshi Daemon Prince delt with the Drop pod they came down in. http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/5065/11attackbikeironwarrior.jpg http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/1931/12noisevmarine.jpg (Next couple of turns I dont have any photos for as i forgot or deleted them as they were bad quality (sorry!) The Khorne Daemon Prince and the Plague Marines entered the combat with the Blood Guard, but failed to kill the squad. The Nurglite CSM squad was wiped out, and a Plague marine died, but combat continued. Loyalists: The UM Rhino had unloaded its tactical squad who shot at the Iron Warriors, and the Death Company got out of their rhino and charged into combat. The Redeemer shot at a Slaaneshi Rhino but failed to do any damage. In close combat the Ultramarine Captain finally succeeded in destroying the Vindicator, taking a few Plague Marines out but failing to do any other damage. The lone UM sergeant finally died to the Noise marines, but died a heroic death. The Death Company succeeded in sending the Khornate Daemon Prince back to the warp, and more plague marines died to the blades of the Blood Guard, but combat continued. Chaos. The Predator again shot at the Land Raider but failed to achieve anything. Having killed the Sergeant the Noise Marines (and another Noise Marine squad) moved towards the ruckus, and shot at the Death Company, killing the squad. The Slaaneshi Daemon Prince had jumped across the board and engaged the (now) lone Chaplain and killed him. http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/4942/13chaost4.jpg Loyalist: Between them, The remaining loyalists took out the rest of the plague marines and waited for the forthcoming assault. The Land Raider whittled away at the on coming horde, as did the UM Rhino and Razorback. Chaos: The Daemon Prince, and one Noise Marine squad charged into combat with the UM Captain, Blood Guard Chapter Master and the sanguinary priest, killing the Chapter Master, but the Daemon Prince had died. Loyalist: Close Combat Continued http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/746/14chaost5.jpg http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/7718/15chaoscombatt5.jpg Game ended in a victory for the forces of Chaos 14-9 (iirc) [some turns might have been missed, but pretty much a lot of points were concentrated around the huge melee in the middle, and Im pretty sure there was another loyalist+chaos turn where the plague marines were fighting as they survived a loooong time] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220045-2000-pts-loyalists-v-chaos-a-walk-in-the-park/ Share on other sites
