Brom MKIV
Some may remember a conversion I was working on about 2 years ago which I posted pics of in this forum...it was an out of production MK1 land raider. Well I finally got the nerve up to attempt a paint job. This is my first tank I have ever painted, and also the first attempt at a somewhat "weathered" look. I wanted this model represent one of the oldest crusaders in the the dark angels arsenal (venerable in appearance), i.e. Belials personal rolling shrine. Keep in mind that I am not an expert painter and actually consider my modeling skills to be better than my paint skills. With that said, all comments are welcome :tu:. Thanks for looking. -Brom Edit: damn cell phone camera sucks. The front says "Vae Victis" http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/pp17/dominuschao/3-6.jpg http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/pp17/dominuschao/1-6.jpg http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/pp17/dominuschao/4-6.jpg http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/pp17/dominuschao/2-6.jpg http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/pp17/dominuschao/5-3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220127-venerable-crusader-deathwing-pics/ Share on other sites
fivepointedstar
that's awesome. what the side sponson made from, and what does it count as? Ebsolom
I love it! Nice to see an old workhorse get a facelift. The sponsoon weapons look suitably menacing, well done. Brother Styphus
...and what does it count as? It's a LRC crusader. Don't get your self down. While not the greatest quality of photo, it appears you pulled off the weathered look rather nicely. pchappel
:-) Looks really nice... I thought I was the only one breaking out the ancient LR's... I'll be converting one of mine to a Spartan class, should be interesting at least Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220127-venerable-crusader-deathwing-pics/#findComment-2627248 Share on other sites

Isiah
Yes stunning. Very characterful and with a great weathered look too. I'm not a great lover of those early MKIs from a design POV, but can appreciate the creative effort that gone into that coversion. Belial should be proud :). Cheers I Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220127-venerable-crusader-deathwing-pics/#findComment-2627624 Share on other sites
Captain Juan Juarez
I much prefer this Vae Victus over the... Other. The picture quality isn't brilliant, but it still looks awesome. Brom MKIV
Thanks for all the great comments guys. It is indeed played as a LRC. The sponsons are multiple parts including punisher gatling gun, pred sponson mounts, land raider lenses, autocannon ammo and other bits I used to make the body of the guns. I was wondering when someone would point out the spelling of victis/victus  Everything I could find pointed to either spelling being synonymous and I wasnt sure I could fit "u" into that tight space...although I prefer that spelling. shortysl
Kudos to you brother. Although i disliked the design of the Mk1, that is an amazing model. I can just imagine the reverence of the battle brothers around it when it's engine engages and it rolls out of the armoury :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220127-venerable-crusader-deathwing-pics/#findComment-2627861 Share on other sites
Lord_Hail
i love it.... it is soooo diffrent from what is normaly on the table. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220127-venerable-crusader-deathwing-pics/#findComment-2628617 Share on other sites
fearlessgod
Wow. That model brings back memories. Although I was never a fan of the model, I had to have one when I started playing. It's great to see a "classic" still in service. :whistling: ~fearlessgod~ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220127-venerable-crusader-deathwing-pics/#findComment-2629763 Share on other sites
Brom MKIV
Ya I agree the stock model is a little underwhelming and also extremely hard to find parts for as it turns out. It took me forever to round up a side panel to replace one that was broken. I just enjoy feeling like im wielding an ancient and revered artifact of the chapter :D This I can just imagine the reverence of the battle brothers around it when it's engine engages and it rolls out of the armoury Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220127-venerable-crusader-deathwing-pics/#findComment-2629827 Share on other sites
Brom MKIV
Heres my latest paintjobs. No golden daemons here but im happy with them as Im primarily a gamer/modeler. Someday I may come back and finish off some more details once the whole army is finally painted up. Anyway I present...
