Dennis
Awesome work. Like your style too, a bit cartoony but not too much. Liiiiiiiiike it! May I ask how you painted the brass etch? Ceasarian
Thank you for your comments, @ Seahawk- I felt that the Dreadnought could use some reading material lest he get board riding in the back. Happy Dreadnoughts tend to crush the enemies of the Imperium better than unhappy Dreads. @ Dannis- The tan areas of the brass etched was painted using the GW foundation paints, Khemri brown, followed Deneb stone. I washed it with Delvan Mud, and then dry brushed bleached bone over it. The gold areas were painted over with scorched brown, followed by bestial brown, vomit brown, followed by golden yellow. I then took a mix of 50/50 golden yellow and skull white and added it as the highlights. The reds were painted with Red Gore to Blood Red- to blazing orange. I used Delvan mud to wash/ shade the piece then highlighted it with a 50/50 mix of blazing orange and skull white. The trick to painting over the brass etched is to keep the coats thin, so a brief undercoat of GW black spray paint is a big help. If you put the coats on too thick, you can lose some of the detail work. Hope that this helps, -Cease Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220137-grey-knights-army-wip-nmm/page/2/#findComment-2720501 Share on other sites
bulley
Amazing painting, actually really inspiring. I have to say, as well technically as they are painted, I really dislike the bases - they look to "candy cane" for lack of a better phrase - I think just straight black/white would achieve a better effect. That said, I feel hard pushed to judge, the level of painting on this is top notch. Ceasarian
Thank you, I finally wrapped up the Librarian the 3x Servo skulls this morning, Da pics- http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p370/TheBatchMobile/Spring%202011%20Painting/000_0001-2-1.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p370/TheBatchMobile/Spring%202011%20Painting/000_0002-2-1.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p370/TheBatchMobile/Spring%202011%20Painting/000_0003-4.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p370/TheBatchMobile/Spring%202011%20Painting/000_0004-1.jpg Next up on the chopping block are a few warmachine hordes (everblight stuff) models for one of the local store owners, and then I hope some Grey Knight Terminators. I really like how the new bases came out. They are my first attempt at a desert base, and I think that they contrast much better with the model than the older bases. This model was also the first time that I have painted a human face since last summer! Certainly was a bit harder than I had remembered. As always thank you for your time, and any comments/ suggestions are greatly appreciated. -Cease Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220137-grey-knights-army-wip-nmm/page/2/#findComment-2735263 Share on other sites
