Scything talons vs mech?

I believe the wording of ScyTals says they reroll all 1s to hit in close combat, and with two sets, they reroll all misses. With that wording, they function just fine against tanks/vehicles. Unlike Preferred Enemy, which requires the target have a WS stat.

Adrenals give Furious Charge, yes? So a Genestealer with Adrenals will be S5 on the charge, fully capable of causing glancing hits on AV10. If they also Rend on the AP roll, they get a bonus d3 roll to the AP value, making them capable of affecting up to AV14.

So, Genestealers with ScyTals will get rerolls to hit versus tanks. Without Adrenals, they can harm up to AV13 (S4, +6 on a Rend, +d3). With Adrenals, they can harm up to AV14 (S5, +6 on a Rend, +d3).

Which is one of the reasons people sometimes field them over Toxin 'Gants.

that and the amazing intive, infiltration, fleet, impresive weapon skill, and that toxin stealers get to reroll to wound against most targets (and thus have a signifigantly improved rend rate). Stealers are, just as they always were, one of, if not the, greatest close combat units available in 40k, of course they disentigrate if something even pretends to shoot at them, but there is very, very little that can stand up to stealers in CC.

Except CC specialists in cover.

Sorry, had to get that one in there. :teehee:
