maverike_prime
So I’m on a medically enforced hiatus from work following an incident involving a TV falling about 2 stories and impacting my shoulder. Now I’m a person who is simply incapable of not doing something. It’s just not in my nature to sit around and not work on something. So I got a little adventurous, pulled up some paperhammer templates I have, and am now working on scratch building a BaneBlade. I initially constructed a quasi-prototype from cardboard. Not a complete model, though I may return to complete it, but more of a what tricks am I going to run into when I build this? Sort of model. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/DSCN5142.gif You can see the cardboard version here. The biggest trick areas I encounters were the forward section, for mounting the Demolisher cannon and the heavy bolter turret, and the main turret base. The templates are a bit tricky to read and lead to a couple small mistakes along the way. The main turret base I just flat screwed up and assembled inside out so I had to cut that apart and reassemble it piece by piece. The major problem I had with the templates is this: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/DSCN5145.gif There is a massive open space between the main body and the tread housing. So that was a problem I knew to adjust for when I built the new version. So feeling a bit better informed about the short comings of the template I was using, I felt ready to embark on a bit more challenging version. So I went out to home depot and bought $40 worth of "For Rent" signs and got to work. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/DSCN5153.gif I designed and built an updated Demolisher cannon housing. I'm planning to make it articulated so that it can pivot up and down, but we'll see how well that works out. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/DSCN5151.gif Here's the main body with one tread assembly attached. I have a fair amount of detailing on it, but I have some plans for it. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/DSCN5152.gif I took a piece of a City of Death sprue and attached it inside the tread housing and left one panel off to give the model some life. Since I'm a chaos player, I'm planning to Chaos-ify the tank a fair amount. Not sure if I'll go for a speccific alignment or just Chaos in General. Though I have a couple extra Blood Letters left over after I used a box of Blood Crushers for a different project. So I could model some Blood Letters riding on the monster. Terminatorinhell
Now this will be an awesome scratchbuild! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220223-what-i-do-when-on-medical-leave/#findComment-2628532 Share on other sites
maverike_prime
bit of an update: Second Tread shield assembly as been completed and attached to the main hull. Extended bay for main engin housing has been completed and attached. I did some extra work as well. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/DSCN5160.gif I added the adeptus Mechanicus icon from a CoD set and build exhaust stacks. I'm rather pleased with hour the exhaust stacks came out. I might try this technique on a smaller vehicle in the non-too-distant future. Perhaps a scratch built dread. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/demolisher_cannon.gif I managed to install the Demolisher cannon as well. And guess what: It tilts!!! Brother Morgan
Looking good so far. I'm trying to build some similar exhausts for a converted Land Raider. What is the clear plastic you used to hold the exhausts?
