Knights Sanguine + Exsanguinators

I am interested in the Blood Angels and more-so the possibility of fleshing out one of their successors as my own. I have yet to attain a copy of the Blood Angels codex but I would like to know, if possible, any information about the chapter because Lexicanum has no record of the Exsanguinators or the Knights Sanguine.

I had the idea that the chapters would be much younger than the rest and had not yet felt the full fury of the Black Rage and Red Thirst take over... if at all. Aside from my musings at details for fleshing out MY chapter, information would be greatly appreciated.

Since I often chose things per color, after concept, any details on either of their color schemes would be excellent as well.

I have to ask as well, are the Blood Angels at all medieval in theme? 2 chapters directly have the term Knight in their names, but the chapters themselves seem less like Knights and more so like neo-gladiators or even modern equivalent romans. The BA remind me of Catholic Rome mixed with, of course, modern military ideas.

I look forward to eventually starting an army of BA, if this economy ever picks up.

Hey there Lord Eregoth,

The BA in nature are very renascence and are closer to your "catholic church with modern military" idea than medieval. Well from what I have read at least :P

About the youth of a chapter, it seems the younger the founding the chapter came from the MORE affected the chapter is by our gene-curse. Probably through the degradation of the gene-seed and the watering down of Sanguinius' blood.

The Chapters you mentioned seem to have been destroyed or dissolved in a way. The Exsanguinators through gene-seed problems and the Knights Sanguine being consumed by war (I got this from the current BA codex). This by no means stops you from fielding an army of either though :D

Hope I've helped at least a bit, I couldn't find much on them myself.

Exsanguinators are unfortunately dead, yes. But so is Captain Tycho, you don't see anyone letting that stop them. I'd say go for it anyways: it'd mean you'd have to write a tragic ending into your fluff, and any battles you do on the table-top will be "historical" but it'd still be worth writing and the games would still be worth playing.

On Foundings —

The High Lords don't like mutation in their Space Marines. Blood Angels have too much history to be shunned, what with that whole "dying to save the Emperor" bit our Primarch did and all. But still, most Blood Angel successors would be established early, very early, before the depths of the Flaw were known. Once the Blood Angels realized the curse wasn't going away, and was getting stronger in their successors, new chapter creation trickled to a halt. The Cursed Founding used to be an option, but Imperial Armour 9 specifies that the Lamenters were the only Sanguinian Chapter founded then. So... at the latest, you're looking at maybe... 19th Founding or so.

EDIT:

Regarding color schemes... for some reason, I always imagined the Exsanguinators as a reverse Flesh Tearers. Something like this.
