Kreon
I've been painting Wolves for a couple of months now and have enough for skirmish size games but not enough for really large ones. Since I've gotten my Ultramarines force to the size I desire, I figure it's time to really buckle down on my Wolves. Now even though they play differently, I really want a different force organization for my Wolves. I typically combine footslogging with drop pods for my Ultras and never really mess around with Mechanized Infantry deployment. So my thinking is that Loganwing with a couple of LRs might be the fun direction to go. I realize it's a pricey list, but what points value should I be shooting for? 2000 is about where I'm figuring based on my math. I'd also really appreciate a rundown of any abilities and rules that come into effect for this force, since like a dunce I left my codex at the folks' over the holidays and they just dropped it in the mail yesterday. Darkseer
combi weapons and power weapons are the way forward for Logan Wing. It's one of their best strengths. That and cyclone missile launchers of course :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220246-curious-about-loganwing/#findComment-2628880 Share on other sites

nurglez
In 2000 point games and above, arjac in a drop pod with 4 friends is wonderful :) I almost always take cyclones and storm shields in my 5 man squads, I run 3 drop pods, at 1500 these have my 3 squads, though one normally deploys with logan as theres no space. in 2000 I put a 3 man combi plasma squad, with 1 wc (just cos I modeled him that way ;) ). but generally combi melta's are better, a power fist is wanted and a wolf claw too. Leaving my average squad at 270 points (5 termies, cyclone, ss, combi melta fist, combi melta wolf claw, drop pod) I just love my storm shields, they generally work more often then not and when they do stop a string of shots you will wonder how you got by without it heh. dual landraiders seems better at 2000, as at 1500 you can get logan, landraider, LR redeemer, 2-3 squads or something else... Huskarl
When I use Logan. I like to mix up the Wolf Guard with power armor and terminator armor. Alot of SW players do not realize that you can do that. Usually end up with 8-10 guys in a Landraider as well. Great on Assualts as well. Powered armor guys get CCW/Bolt Pistol for minimal points. Throw a couple of Wolf Clawed Termies in the group. If you can, put another character model with this group such as Ragnar. Crusader can carry 16 troops. 1 Terminator takes 2 slots. So 5 Termies only take up 10 troops slots. 5 Power Armor and Ragnar. Only issue is it takes 2000k points games or higher to make this viable. But I play with insane people. /shrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220246-curious-about-loganwing/#findComment-2629706 Share on other sites

Kreon
The other thing I need to know is, based on force organization, how are Wing lists legal using the Wolf codex? Edit: NM, was able to have a friend look in his dex and he read me the blurb about Logan and Guard Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220246-curious-about-loganwing/#findComment-2630370 Share on other sites
LPetersson
2000K?thats a big game 2,000,000 points I think that would be the point size of all Englands' models put together Doubtful. Between 5 friends of mine and I we put 50k worth of points together for one game and none of us used all of our models... But anyway, back on topic... I always give each of my squads a combi-plasma, combi-melta and sometimes a combi-flamer. They are cheap and very very cheerful. A useful trick is to give each squad a guy with a Storm Bolter and Stormshield so you have a cheap and good invulnerable save in case someone decides to use some AP1/2 weapons on you... Other than that, anything I might say has already been said. nurglez
Pure logan wings are fun, low model count, and a bit of bad luck will see you lose 230+ points worth of stuff to 5 weapons, but when they work they are great! There are a few variations on this, quite a few people seem to enjoy taking longfangs with missiles, so you can cover the advance of your terminators, other people mix power armour and terminator. Me, I've started using TWC, and while they generally lack the power weapon hits, they have a lovely threat range and can sweeping advance! 1500 points=logan, twc lord, 3x5 termies, ss, cyclone, combi melta fist drop pod and 3 twc fist. at 2000 points I have 19 termies, 3 drop pods and 7 twc (including logan, arjac and a twc lord) linky here I'm now have a higher win loss ratio (though I've only played 4-5 different armies), I own 2 landraiders and will be trying out a mechanized force, but enjoy my current lists  The best way of learning to play with one and what to have, is to play with one ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220246-curious-about-loganwing/#findComment-2636222 Share on other sites
