Rune Priest
Hey guys! I've been away from the forums a while. I've been really busy with school and commissions and haven't really had time for a breather. Finally, O get to post something of my own for you guys I've been working on for a while (finished a couple of months ago). Now, before you ask, his weapon is the Space Wolves' equivalent of a Crozius Arcanum, not a Thunder Hammer  With that in mind, please let me know your thoughts on this guy, and please feel free to vote for him on CMON in the link below. http://www.coolminiornot.com/269453 http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/hs053.snc6/168298_491541258643_558573643_6223289_1395914_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/hs048.snc6/167811_491541283643_558573643_6223291_4670155_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/hs003.snc6/165361_491541378643_558573643_6223295_2385827_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs750.ash1/164107_491541348643_558573643_6223294_2067416_n.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220255-its-been-so-long-but-heres-eyecandy/ Share on other sites
Brother Nezulius
Wow...I think this is the best infantry model I've seen so far in 2011. Great painting!!!! Retrograde
That is a wonderful paintjob :P The only thing I could suggest to improve it would be to narrow the shading lines between the knee pads and the thigh plates. Aside from that I'd say he's perfect :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220255-its-been-so-long-but-heres-eyecandy/#findComment-2628937 Share on other sites
Rune Priest
thanks guys; I appreciate it! @ Rstoner: the black lines in the crevices are the soft armour of the marines' armour (supposed to be a different colour than the armour itself) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220255-its-been-so-long-but-heres-eyecandy/#findComment-2629052 Share on other sites
Firepower
Superb painting skills. The one thing that made me giggle was my original interpretation of the Crozius as a TH, and the tilt of his head. Gave the impression of "Ok, which side is the business end of this thing again?" Rune Priest
Gave the impression of "Ok, which side is the business end of this thing again?" lol, cuz both ends are so badass :D thanks for the compliments!! Retrograde
@ Rstoner: the black lines in the crevices are the soft armour of the marines' armour (supposed to be a different colour than the armour itself) Oh right, thing is that's not meant to be soft armour. That would be mostly hidden behind the knee plate. The small disc shape detail above his right knee is part of the thigh armour and looks a little strange to me painted as part of a rather large gap between the plates. As I said though aside from that this mini is top draw and that's the only reason I've pointed this out :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220255-its-been-so-long-but-heres-eyecandy/#findComment-2629170 Share on other sites
Rune Priest
Ah, I see what you mean; normally that would be true with pretty much all SM legs GW puts out, but anatomically, there must be soft armour directly behind the kneepad to allow for mobility. When I modded him 'stepping up' at it were, that gap would open itself up a bit. Bergtorp
Love the paint job. There is just one thing that caught me eye. The cable for his power weapon doesn't look realistic to me. But I couldn't make something that good at my current level, it's just something I thought of. Loketh
Beautiful paint job. Just getting that out of the way. However, positioning-wise, I would have had him looking down to his left in order to make it look like he was about to crash it down on some poor sap's head. It's too late to make a change like that, but the pose looked a bit awkward to me. But you made up for it almost completely with an absolutely SUBLIME paint job. The smoothness! It hurts my eyes!!! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220255-its-been-so-long-but-heres-eyecandy/#findComment-2629873 Share on other sites
Rune Priest
Thanks so much; that was very nice of you :) The weird thing about this model is how different camera shots make it look. I'm not even sure this shot conveys the 'victorious' posture of this guy, but oh well (I really wish I could show you guys in person :P) I'll be posting a very early WIP of a nicely posed mini in the WIP section, so let me know if that pose tickles your fancy ;) (probably will be titled 'possible GD entry.... when I get 'round to painting it') Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220255-its-been-so-long-but-heres-eyecandy/#findComment-2629883 Share on other sites
dynamicspartan
That's a lovely rune priest. I wonder though, why is he standing on a loyalist helmet? Rune Priest
Well, I'd say that the helmet is loyalist due to pretty much happenstance and being battlefield debris (as if he was stepping on an IG lasgin or a severed hand). It's the same yellow because it fit in best with the palette, lol :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220255-its-been-so-long-but-heres-eyecandy/#findComment-2631140 Share on other sites
Bergtorp
It could be a yellow traitor helm. I'm not fond of the idea of him standing on a loyalist helm, quite disrespectfull.
