Armor Athlete
I would love to use the BA Codex for my DIY, mainly for the type of army I would like to use, lots of Assault SQs and Landspeeders. Is it completely just wrong to do? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220341-using-ba-codex-for-non-ba-chapter/ Share on other sites
wheelballer
warhammer is all bout customization. You can use whatever codex you want to run whatever army. You just have to get permission form your opponent on things that aren't inherently obvious for what they are. As long as the squads are modelled with the correct weapons and follow that codex's rule you can make your army look however you want. The armies set out are just example armies to use or work off of. The customizability is one of my favorite aspects of this game and hobby. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/220341-using-ba-codex-for-non-ba-chapter/#findComment-2630073 Share on other sites
Plague Angel
This army list is based first and foremost around the Blood Angels, but can also be used to collect an army based around one of their successor chapters. Use the army list on the following pages and paint your miniatures using one of the colour schemes shown in this book (or create the colours and heraldry yourself). This should not prevent you from using one of the Blood Angels special characters (or indeed from using Gabriel Seth, a Flesh Tearers character, alongside a Blood Angels army). They can still be used in the same army, representing the common occurrence of different chapters fighting alongside one another. Alternatively, you can use the model and rules of a named character to represent a mighty hero of a different chapter — for example, using the rules and model for Captain Tycho as a Blood Drinkers Captain, or of a Space Marine chapter of your own design — you just need to come up with a new name. This is a perfect way to personalize your army — just make sure your opponent is aware of what everything counts as before the beginning of the game to prevent confusion during the battle. Grey Mage
Theres nothing in the rules that says you cannot. Plague Angel has put forth one of the designers notes that encourages you to be creative with the codex. If you think it fits your fluff, why not? Isiah
I agree with GM. Plenty of DA gamers have been using the C:SM codex over the last few years... after all it's your army so go for it.
