dragon950
Russ is clearly dead! A warrior culture like the Space Wolves embrace death, and when their existance lack meaning, death is the only thing they crave. Death through glorious battle and war. Russ left his chapter to seek out the biggest bas@$$ he could find, someone worthy of killing him. It was probably a good death, and they should all be proud that he lead by example right to the end! For when the imperium doesn't need the Space Wolves, they know what to do! Unleash the full fury of the chapter against a worthy opponent, and fight to the end! The best ending for a primarch EVER! If they die fighting, they'll come to a place of meat- eating, beer- drinking and endless fighting! We scandinavians call it Valhall :D I like what they said in hellforged, a good death must be witnessed by others. I would think that the best way for him to do that would be to charge a black crusade by himself and see how many he killed before he died. Like what Dorne did with a black crusade fleet, but where they got that info I have no clue. Unless it was from an early space marine edition. elithren
So, uh, can someone give me a reference to the robed figure leading the 13th company so I can read about it? Coverfire
I believe that Russ does not wish to be found yet. I would hazard that he left items in strategic places for the Space Wolves chapter to find to misdirect or call off their Hunt when they may be getting too close. Quillen
That makes sence. The great Hunt had gone as for as he wanted so he left his armor for them. Something physical for them to have and hold. I believe the robed figure might be Russ. But they amke so much vague..... WulfenBrother
Grey Mage, a page number would be great because I can't seem to find it. Thanks! And a link for the website too! Thanks! MonSTeR
I think it's a mysterious plot device to make the "fluff" of Russ get talked about by players through the ages. GW are probably still flexible on what they will deem has "actually" happened and the official "in house" dossier on the chapter probably get updated with each revision of the codex as to what the published fluff is allowed to say. Russ dissappeared mysteriously, because that's the twist in their back story. Is he alive? Is he dead? Who knows? dragon950
So if GW would take his word for it, then would that mean in the next codex we get someting like the Sanguinor? Vassakov
So if GW would take his word for it, then would that mean in the next codex we get someting like the Sanguinor? Let us pray not. Emperor, Canis Wolfborn was silly enough... we'd end up with a Space Wolverine on crack or something awful like that. Wulf Vengis
Aye that he is, but come on... Lets be serious here for a moment. The idea of his presence in 40k is pretty silly. I mean his fluff lines him up to be what? The reincarnation of Russ? The new mortal version with no cool Primarchy goodness. After all weve been getting hints of thunderwolves since at least 2nd ed so its only logical they figure out how to add it to the army lists. It just so happens that Canis (and anyone for that matter) riding one of these massive beasts is bit far fetched and silly. The wolves of Fenris... They are massive creatures easily as large as a horse. Legends tell of creatures larger still... Codex: Space Wolves 2nd ed pg 14, litte grey box on the bottom left. That's what the human Imperials think of the notion of Space Marines riding giant beasts! of course it seems that way, to make TWC exist as a rumour. what better way for the Space Wolves to use them then as demorolising shock troops?... CSM Alpha Legion Marine (:))1: We have nothing to fear from the false emperor's lap-dogs, we are hidden by our cultists and the might of Chaos Undivided gives us power! Alpha Legion Marine 2: But have you heard? It is claimed they ride on beasts to war! Alpha Legion Marine 1: Bah! It is but rumours- think not of it! And did I not just say we have nothing to fear? Alpha Legion Marine 2: ...yes...but- Alpha Legion Marine 1: I JUST TOLD YOU, WE HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR! THEY ARE THE LAP-DOGS OF THE FALSE EMPEROR, WE ARE HIDDEN BY OUR NUMEROUS, NUMEROUS CULTISTS AND THE MIGHT OF CHAOS UNDIVIDED GIVES US POWER!!!! DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?? Alpha Legion Marine 2: Yes, but- Alpha Legion Marine 3: Our position is being assaulted! Alpha Legion Marine 1: What?! How?! Alpha Legion Marine 3: They came out of nowhere, they are so fast I- Alpha Legion Marine 1: WHAT ARE?! Alpha Legion Marine 3: The lap-dogs! On wolf-like beasts! Alpha Legion Marine 2: It's true! I told you so! Alpha Legion Marine 1: Here they come! For the Chaos Gods! Alpha Legion Marine 2: No! they are too powerful! Alpha Legion Marine 1: No, they are not char- BY CHAOS MY NOSTRILS! WHAT IS THAT STENCH COMING FROM THEM?! Alpha Legion Marine 3: I believe it's smelly cheese! Alpha Legion Marine 1: UGH! The worst kind! Alpha Legion Marine 2: FLEE! FOR THE LEGION! Alpha Legion Marine 3: I don't see how that works, but- OMCG would you look at that one! Alpha Legion Marine 2: With claws on his hands?! Alpha Legion Marine 1: THE STENCH! IT'S INTENSIFYING! OH CHAOS GODS DAMMIT! Alpha Legion Marine 3: he's on us! Grey Mage
Why do you lot hate Canis so much he is an excellent addition to the ranks of the space wolves, and a good model at that A 12 year old kid, naked in the snow, after dragging an unconcious wolf gaurd through the mountains of frenris, round houses another wolf gaurd in the face to gain entrance to the fang. And his mount looks as much like a giant, wild wolf as I look like barbie- the similarities end with having hair and teeth. army310
QUOTE Page 14 of second ed codex The wolves of fenris are amongst the most vicous predators in the known universe. They are massive creatures easily as large as a horse. legends tell of creatures larger still, whose jaws are capable of crushing steel and whose teeth are as huge as tree trunks. These creatures roam the wastes of Fenris. They are numerous in the vast lands of Asaheim that lie around the foot of the Mountains of Fangard upon whose peaks stands the space Wolves fortress of the Fang. The Wolves of Fenris are more intelligent by far than ordinary wolves. It issaid that they are led by a great king of their kind, a wolf black as the night as a big as a mountain who is called Kjarg King of Wolfkind.
